Please help! I just got a new 'Singer Prelude 8280

Make sure the bobbin is placed in the holder going the right direction; usually rotating counterclockwise. The tension must be set properly on the bobbin holder and the upper tension also. (Many "how to's" in the internet). After you have loaded the upper thread hold unto the thread while turning the handwheel towards you. The bottom thread should come up above the plate. Pull it forward a little ways. It should sew now. If your thread doesn't come up from the bobbin try to replace the needle (install with flat in back). If this doesn't work you may need to have the hook adjusted. You will need to go to the local repairman. Good luck.

Singer Prelude 8280 Sewing Machine stuck

Is the knob on the side, where you loosen the needle to rewind the bobbin, tightened? Also, there may be some threads in the bobbin case messing things up. Unplug the machine if you are checking the bobbin case.

Why is my singer SEWING MACHINE prelude HAND WHEEL RESISTING

Make sure the bobbin winder is in the position away from the bobbin stopper. When you fill a bobbin, you have to push the "spindle" towards the handwheel. If you do not push the "spindle" back into position (away from the handwheel), the wheel will remain locked.

I have had a singer prelude 8280 for a year now with no problems. now all the sudden the thread is catching in the bobbin casing. The thread on top looks normal, but when you turn over the fabric...

It is in your top threading, try this test, rethread, now with the presser foot up, pull the top thread, it should feed smoothly, now lower the presser foot, it should barely move. Sometimes this seats the thread in the tension discs. Also, make sure that your needle is fresh.

My bobbin winds loosley

This means the thread is not pulling to the winder fast enough. Check the tension silver knob that guides the thread to the bobbin. It may be too tight.

hope that helps!

I have model 8280 and the bobbin thread keeps bunching up on the bottom. I have tried to rethread it but it keeps happening.

i think your putting in your bobin backwards,
to check put your bobin in and hold bobin , and bobin case by thread if it unrolls its backwards,
hope this helps!!
