Question about Computers & Internet
I'm having a problem with my laptop the past few months. It is a Acer TravelMate 4021 laptop. Sometimes the computer suddenly can't read/write from/to the hard disk. And then when I switch the computer off (hard off) and switch it on again, the hard disk isn't detected at all. Usually when I wait a few hours and turn it on and off a few times, it detects the hard disk again and loads. Sometimes when it start the OS, the hard disk will do the same. I've tried about everything (a new hard disk and new RAM), but it didn't work. I've put the hard disk in another computer and it worked. It is strange that it works sometimes and sometimes not and it stops working at random times. I think it might be the motherboard / IO controllers that is causing all the trouble. Are there anything I can do about it?
Thanks for the help.
Try 2 things....1) replace the IDE controller cord or the SATA cord whichever applies. If this doesn't fix the prob try downloading latest mobo updates as well as any Acer updates for your specific model. Let me know if any of this works.
