Question about Tappan TGF320 Gas Kitchen Range

Igniter clicks, but gas will not flow.

When you turn on the gas, you hear the clicking of the igniter, but it will not burn, even when a match is held to it.

If you don't smell gas (rotten eggs/sulphur), the gas is off or clogged. there are little pin-hole spouts for the gas to come out before it gets to the burner, and they get clogged easily by falling food/liquid. you have to take the stovetop off to get to them.

Why want middle burner light automatically but will light with a lighter

That unit is suppose to have electronic quartz igniters. Apparently there's a problem but it doesn't automatically mean the igniter needs to be replaced. If you see a spark from the igniter then it's fine. If you see a spark but no flame then the ignition process is out of synchronization. In other words, the gas hasn't concentrated near the spark enough to ignite. This may be a matter of low gas pressure or the extra length the gas needs to flow to reach the center burner is impeding ignition. Simple fix is turn the knob just enough to start the gas for 2 seconds then continue the turn to click the igniter. or simply use a match. You may also see if there are any adjustments on the gas manifold that will enhance bringing more gas to the center burner quicker. Some unit have one click & that's it, others click the igniter continuously until you release turning the knob. Good luck. you'll figure it out.

Lighter don't light even if it's a nu ignite checked gas flow even spark is gud. And turned up and down lighter gas flow an that didn't work too

Check the gas vents (holes) on the burner, are they clean and clear? Make sure its getting enough air to igniter. Try turning on the gas and light it using a match. If it stays lit the igniter is not working properly, if it does not, either the valve gas vents are clogged or its not getting enough air to keep burning.

Hello,
In addation to the spark do you hear th egas flowing as well? if you do hear the gas and can light it with a match/bbq lighter but it doesn't light with the spark,it could be cleaned by using a safety pin/paper clip and push through the holes where the flame burns all around the burner(s) also steel wool will clean the burner.

I have a Hotpoint gas range that has electric ignition for the oven. However, I don't have electric at my cabin. Is there a conversion kit for a straight pilot ignition available? The model number is...

Most gas ranges with electronic ignition aren't equipped to have a straight pilot ignition.
I'm don't even think they make conversion kit because of the routing of the gas tubing for the pilot source.

Usually you have to turn the gas knob way over to get the "click-click-click" of the igniter.
Its just as easy to turn on the gas and light with a match...or a long butane lighter.
Even a "striker" used in welding will provide a source of ignition.
A last ditch effort would be to get a replacement gas grill igniter...all ya gotta do is place the bottom of igniter on metal surface and press red button. (kinda works like a spark plug) and no A/C needed.

Hope this helps some.

Burners do not ignite via igniter. I can light via a match so I know I have gas flow. I can hear thhe igniter clicking but still no ignition.

Sometimes the igniter point gets dirty due to food or grease and it will not make a spark check the point. Another issue I've found is that the distance between the point and the burner has changed either by something falling on it or so. This causes the point to not create an arc.
The best way to find out what's happening is to observe the point to see if an arc is visible.
Good luck

I can not get the gas to ignite on this fridge. Sometimes I will see a flame in the spy glass inside the fridge but nothing appears to happen after that. By the way as I do not have a instruction manual,...

You should find one button which you can push in or on some models it is a spring loaded turning action. Then there is a second button which when pushed you will hear a click sound. this is an ignitor and makes a spark at the burner area. Ok, the first button should be pushed or turned and held in place for a count of five this is to allow the gas to reach from the cylinder to the burner. You can then repeat press the igniter button to make a spark. Check in sightglass to see if flame is burning. Do not release the gas button for at least a count of ten. This is to heat up a small wire thermocouple. It is a safety device at the burner which glows red and keeps the flame burning and the gas flowing. Should the flame be blown out by wind, the wire will cool and the thermocouple will shut off gas flow. So to summarize, the gas button is a bypass to allow temporary flow of gas to the burner until the igniter is pressed. Hope this helps, rate me.

For caloric gas range, the bake function did not kick in after setting the temperature dail. Display window shows on but no gas burning. Temperature stays at 100 degrees.

Usually when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake igniter is weak or burned out. The igniter is a small, round or rectangular device, that's about 1 inch by 4 to 8 inches. It's near the burner itself.

The burner is the tube-type device the gas flows through before it's ignited. It has many small holes on the sides to let the gas, when ignited, form a long, low flame. If the igniter is weak, if it glows red but doesn't get hot enough, or if it's burned out, the gas doesn't flow to the burner and the burner won't ignite. If this is the problem, you may need to replace either the igniter or the gas safety valve. Usually the igniter is to blame.

Other causes Other reasons that your oven may not bake are:

  • The clock settings are incorrect (if you have timed baking or a self-cleaning oven).

  • The thermostat is defective.

  • The safety valve that prevents accidental gas flow is defective.

  • The selector switch is defective.

if this helps please vote me a fix ya

Dacor gas range igniter clicking

I did have the same problem after the house keeping people done with cleaning. They used window/surface cleaner. First I asked them not to clean the ignitor with any cleaner. Here is what I did to solve the problem
I took scotch scour pad (one that you use for washing dishes), In dry state I polished ignitor switch. It is abrading the residuals and deposits on the top and polishing it. Don't use any thing more abrasive than that. MAGIC - I don't have any more problem.
