Question about Rainbow Vacuums
I have a Rainbow E Series and when I turned it on, it started to smell like something electrical was burning.
You did not say if the vacuum ran and started to stink after running for a while. If this is the case, it's usually time for new brushes and a motor cleanup.

The vacuum is either shorting or the motor or brush assembly is rubbing something.
