According to the website for R4i SDHC the new system update for the DSI will not allow any cards to be used. R4i will only work on 1.3 version of the system software...To verify check the bottom right hand corner of the top screen in system settings...

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I just bought a r4i ultra, downloaded the kernel, and some games, but when i start my dsi, the game says: Alex Rider: Stormbreaker THQ, and when i start it, it says error

Hey Landboren,

This is probably because your DSi is upgraded to the latest firmware that your card doesn't support yet. Once your DSi console has been updated to v1.4.3 firmware it cannot then be downgraded. If you are using a genuine R4i 3DS card (check on the r4dsrevolutioncards.com website by the way, they do a pretty good guide on the different types of genuine / fake cards. Also see r4dsrevolutioncards.com, they're pretty useful for R4i card info) then you should be able to update the firmware of the R4i card through the "Settings" menu of the R4i. You need to do this on a 1.4.2-or-below DSi console, or a DS Lite though.

NintendoDSCards.com has an info page and a video to show you how to update a legit R4i card (NOT fakes) - click here to visit the 1.4.3 R4i Update page.

If you're using a fake card (such as the R4i Gold, R4i Ultra etc.) then it's quite likely the card simply isn't supported and you'd need to get a new one. Your best bet is to buy an authentic card and simply buy something decent that's upgradable. DS cards unfortunately don't last forever, and teams eventually stop supporting the cards - but the fake ones are terrible at this to be honest!

I personally shop with dscardworld (www.dscardworld.com) and they're great, but that's because I live in the US. I used to live in Sweden and if you are in Europe then nds-gear (nds-gear.com) are just better if you live outside of the US/Canada in my opinion, so pick depending on where you live. Both of those shops are authentic retailers of R4i, Acekard and Supercard by the way (probably others too but those are the ones I've used).

If you're getting a card for a 3DS / DSi console I'd recommend a Supercard DSTWO since it's pretty much just awesome and you can play Gameboy Advance games as well on it. But if you just need a basic card or you're using it on a DS Lite / DS, I'd get an Acekard 2i. Up to you really, I think both of them also stock the genuine R4i's but they seem to be going out of fashion these days.

Hope I've helped, good luck!

I have a R4i card (Revolution for DS - Gold) that worked up until lately and will not work now, but this card will work on another DSI. Any R4 I put in to this DSI comes up with the following error -...

I'm afraid the R4i Gold card is a fake, and if you've updated your console to the latest 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 firmwares it's unlikely to work. Check out R4 DS Revolution Cards at www.r4dsrevolutioncards.com (info site) to differentiate between different versions of R4i cards and make sure you buy a genuine one!

A lot of the fakes will indeed work when you buy them but as soon as you update your console they'll stop working.

Good luck!

My daughters new dsi wont play r4 card but it plays fine on my dsi

If your Daughter as been on the internet with her dsi, she will not be able to use the r4i, because if you update your dsi, it will stop her playing games with a r4i on her dsi, if she as dont update yours because it will do the same.

R4i stopped working - firmware 1.3E

I'm afraid that your DSi has had an updated, likely to be included with a rec3nt game that has been played on the DSi - even though your firmware is 1.3e it has the same protection as 1.4e. You need to buy a 1.4 compatible R4 card such as this one: http://www.memorycardzoo.com/2045/R4/R4i-SDHC/R4i-Standalone-Card/

Screen says loading, r4i ultra

Hi,

I appreciate that you have loaded all the sorrect software, etc, but, have you tried just installing the software, Menu, moonsl, etc and then placing the sd card back in the R4i cart and turning on so that it may build the R4 menu for the dsi to use?
Then updating and copying game files over?

That was the problem i had with several of my R4 and R4i cartridges.

Hope this helps, if not let me know.

DSi does not play any of the DS game cards

If you are using an R4 card or similar, this is not compatible with the DSi. You will need to use an R4i or R4Ultra, see here http://www.r4ultra.com/
