Erm, once you have the PCI soundcard, how are you supposed to fix it? I run a windows 8.1 laptop so i'm wondering what should I do to fix this problem.

you could just buy a game port to USB adapter. As the Suncom Drivers don't work with XP or later Windows versions anyway the converted USB throttle and stick will be reconised as a standard howver many buttons device but the programability will be retained...if you can remember ow that is.

If you happen to retain the manual congrats they are like gold dust and worth a billionty pounds.

Umm, no. The Suncom Strike Fighter Series F-15 stick and throttle WILL NOT WORK WITH A USB ADAPTER. Period.

  • kansasparker Jan 09, 2011

Yes they will. I have used the stick daisy chained into the throttle daisy chained into a set of Thrustmaster rudder pedals. As long as you use a PS2 keyboard you can program the buttons.

One option, provided you have a open PCI slot in your computer, would be to add a Sound Card that has a game port (DB15F -15 pin Female) connector. You probably have an on-board audio system, but not many new systems include the game port that was often standard on non surround sound audio cards.

Used PCI stereo line out/in + microphone-in can be had for around $10.

Depending on your sound output requirements or desires, you can simply turn off (disable in BIOS) your on-board audio and use just the PCI cards audio & game port connections, or configure your system to use both (with proper drivers installed for both). The add in card can be used only for the game port while the (probably better) on-board unit handles audio in/out functions.

Configure which one handles what in the 'control panel' - 'sounds and audio devices' and 'game controllers' properties configuration utilities. The on-board audio will probably be the best to use as they can be on a faster BUS than standard PCI and have more hardware acceleration features at higher BIT precision.

I have set up a bunch of systems like this since mfg.'s started making the cheaper 'USB-only' ported mainboards the heart of their systems. I expect I'll be doing more of them for some time too. ;)

Hope this helps you out and keeps your suncom useful.

A Gameport to USB adaptor will not work with Suncom F-15 with or without the SFS Throttle. You have to obtain and install a PCI sound card that has a DB15 gameport. Creative AudigyLS cards work great, when these instructions are followed:

Other PCI sound cards work, but be careful of some OEM cards.

My computer is unresponsive to the joystick; I plugged it into the usb port a message confirmed it was installed and ready for use but nothing happens when I move the joystick in a flight simulator or...

Hello, Here's the solution to your problem, you have to configure the games you're playing for the joystick to work, I believe all games have this option, ussualy in the "configure keyboard and mouse" options menu, click on any funcion you want your joystick to use for each button, and then press the button you want for that function, do that with all buttons of the joystick you want to use, some games need the joystick axis to be configured, just click on left/right and move your joystick in the desired direction, same procedure to up/down, if your joystick has a throttle wheel, do the same for it (if needed).
Procedure is simple and most games has small variants of this procedures I gave you, but they are simple to figure out.
Hope my solution helps, have a nice day :)

Logitech attack 3 joy stick does not work in my xp

The joystick should come with a USB cable to connect to the computer. Once you have connected the joystick to the computer go to your control panel and click on the Printers and Other Hardware. Next you can click on Game Controllers, next you click on add and click on how many buttons there on the joystick (Example: 4 buttons joystick w/throttle). Once you have completed these steps you want to click on the controller then click on properties to give your joytick a test run before you play a game you have.
I hope this information can help you and hope you enjoy your games that you use with your joystick.

My joystick will not respond.

you have to plug the round tipped courd into the slot in both controllers, connecting both. you only plug one thing into your computer and that is the usb cord built into the throttle control.

I recently purchased logitec extreme 3d pro joystick and a user manual did not come with it. How do I get one?

Did you purchase it open-box or second-hand? If so, you shouldn't be surprised at the lack of a manual. If you bought it new, it may not have come with one.

I personally have one of these joysticks, but I bought it so long ago that I can't remember if it came with a manual or not.

Either way, there really isn't much need for a manual for this joystick. It doesn't have any very advanced features that would require a manual. It's very simple to use:

  1. Plug it in to an open USB port on your computer.
  2. It should be automatically detected by your operating system. If not, you may have a defective joystick or a defective USB port. Try the joystick in another USB port. If the problem persists, check Logitech's website.
  3. In Windows, click Start->Control Panel->Game Controllers. You should see the joystick listed. Select it and click Properties.
  4. It should open a new window to the "Test" tab, where you can make sure all the buttons work. I suggest you click on the "Settings" tab at the top left.
  5. Click "Calibrate..." and follow the prompts. It'll ask you to keep the joystick centered and press a button on the joystick (use one of the side buttons such as 11 or 12 so that you don't inadvertently move the joystick from center).
  6. Then it'll ask you to move the joystick in complete circles. Do this several times and advance to the next step.
  7. It'll ask you to move the throttle slider up and down. Do this several times and advance to the next step.
  8. It'll ask you to set the "Z-rotation," which is the left/right twist of the handle. Do this several times.
  9. It'll ask you to center it and press a button. See step 5 above.
Now the joystick should be calibrated and ready for use. If you have multiple game controllers, you may want to click the "Advanced" tab back in the Game Controllers window and make sure the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is selected as the preferred device.

Now start whatever game you want to use it with. You'll probably have to configure what you want the buttons on your joystick to do within the game; follow the instructions that came with the game.

Pretty simple, and like I said, there are no advanced macro functions or anything like that for this joystick.

i will buy both stick and throttle off of you..."if" the price is right. ;-)

Beowolff29(at symbol here to throw off spam bots)

anyway...this is old technology it is non-USB and windows xp and other new windows don't like Suncom stuff too much. but it can be done. attach the Talon stick to the throttle via it's two plug in ends. you'll see how they plug into the back of the throttle. once that's done, attach a NON-USB keyboard (to make the stick and throttle programmable) into the back of the throttle via the backside of one of the plugs from the stick that you plugged in earlier.

go to Radio Shack or elsewhere and buy a Belkin or whatever "joystick port to USB converter" unit. the salesman should know exactly what it is. cheap...maybe 8 to 10 bucks. also while you are there, buy a big keyboard end to little keyboard end (not USB) end converter adaptor. maybe four of five bucks for this. it converts the really old (BIG) keyboard ends to the more 'normal' (SMALLER) keyboard ends that are usually on the back of your computer. okay, almost done.

plug the USB converter into the big joystick port plug that is attached to the split line that is coming out of the back of your throttle, it's only go on one way so should be easy to do. attach the 'now' USB converted plug end into a USB port on your computer. the "OTHER" end of the split 'throttle' cable end will have that BIG keyboard end on it...plug the BIG to LITTLE adaptor that you bought into that...and simply plug it into the back of your computer where a standard keyboard plugs in.

viola! you are done with that. you may have to monkey around with the switch on the USB adaptor to get the thing working right. it has several settings on the slider switch for different things. try one till you get the one that works best.

go into window's control panel and pull up your GAME CONTROLLERS program. it should now show USB ADAPTOR CONNECTED in the joystick window. configure as per usual and test. there may be some jerky stuff while configuring but keep trying till you get it like you want it. that's it. go in game and TRY it out. some adjustments (trial an error) may be needed, but it should now show up in game and with the keyboard attached, all buttons on both throttle and stick should now be programmable and useable.

not perfect, but it will work fairly well. remember, this is old technology and it is hard to get and keep it tuned into the newer working systems. you may occasionally lose your stick, and have to RE-CONFIGURE all over again. a small price to pay for a WONDERFUL, REALISTIC fighter stick! u can email me if you get into a jam.
