Question about GE Profile Harmony DPGT750EC Electric Dryer

GE Profile Harmony dryer sounds like a jet plane about to take off

I had the GE repair guy out and he listened to it and said it is the blower motor about to go. He quoted me $550 parts and labor to repair and recommended I replace the machine instead (current retail price $800+). I bought this washer/dryer 2 1/2 years ago and am not happy about having to replace already. I am wondering how he could tell just by listening that the blower was going. I used the codes another poster provided (thank you!) to get in to the diagnostics mode and it looks like everything is fine with the blower- RPMs get where they should be, and the diagnostics say everything is fine. The noise starts when the heater kicks on, if that means anything. I am wondering if it is possible the blower just needs to be cleaned. How could a repairman diagnsose a bad motor by doing nothing more than listening? I gather it's a real pain to open the dryer up, but could someone give me some tips on how to do that so I can try cleaning the blower myself?

Thanks in advance.

I too have a GE Profile Harmony (Gas) Dryer that had started vibrating and making a loud noise. I removed the screws that held the filter and grill to the inside of the door frame and placed a mirror inside so I could see down inside the fan. I found that a softner sheet had somehow gotten around the filter screen and had lodged in the blades of the fan and had collected a fairly large amount of fine lint. The combination of the dryer sheet and the lint had created an out of balance condition that caused the dryer to vibrate and make noise (the forward cabin door has been closed and we're ready for takeoff!) I used a bent coat hanger as a hook and using the mirror to aim the hanger, I hooked the dryer sheet and pulled it out through the hole for the filter.

I hope I'm not too late to help you if indeed this is your same problem.

would opening it up like that to take a peak void the warranty? Are there any seals when u open that would break indicating it had been fooled with? Otherwise i will have my hubby do that!

Does the GE harmony dryer have a blower motor that is driven by a belt?

No normally the blower is not driven by a belt, it is a motor with a blower wheel attached on the end of it...if the blower motor is not working then you will have to replace the blower motor

DescrI have a GE profile harmony electric dryer model #dpgt750ec1pl. About 5 minutes into a drying cycle the blower shuts down. There is still heat but no air coming out of the dryer duct. Any suggestions?...

you should not have heat when motor stops there is a switch in the motor to shut the element off....yours is not working(you could burn your house)replace the motor.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY IT AGAIN...can't be lucky all the time

GE Profile Electric Dryer, Blower nt getting up to speed

You need to replace the blower motor. It says you are having temp problems because the blower is quitting and the heater is overheating.
