Question about Maytag Dryers
Generally in the older dryers, the top has hinges in the back, that allow you to flip it up. To keep it from opening, there are two catches on the front base panel (about 2 inches in from each corner) and two screws under the lint trap door. First, disconnect electrical power cord, precautionary. Then remove the two screws under the lint trap door, that attach the top to the lint trap. (The next step exploits the slight flexibility of the dryer chasis.) Slide the top piece forward of the base (away from the back side) about a half inch, then lift the front edge of the top piece. (Sliding forward should allow you to clear the catches that hold the top down.) You're in....
