is it frozen up? do you have any air flow thru the air tunnel from the freeze to the fridge? Check your air flow with the door switch pushed in. also check to see if the damper door opens... 1) if it is iced up you have a defrost problem. most likely a defrost timer. Turn off or unplug untill all the ice has melted off the evaporator back of the freezer..plug back in and it will work fine untill the ice builds up again. if this work you do have a defrost problem.. if not let me know and we can go deeper...

SOURCE: compressor working but Fridge and Freezer not cooling - Amana

It sounds like the same problem my brother is having with his. I took it apart and found that the fan that moves all the air for cooling is not working. This fan is behind the bottom panel in the freezer side, and sorry you do have to take everything out to get to it.

Which is the low side on the ac compressor for a 1990 geo metro?

Is it possible the fittings are the same size because this car takes R12 freon ??
Make sure you are using the right freon and tools.
The low side is on the thicker hose on most cars with R12.

I require a wiring diagram for the thermostat of a Hoover nextra HMA 280B fridge freezer on

Not sure about this model but most thermostats have only 3 terminals... 2 live terminals and 1 earth.. The earth is usually the terminal on the main outside frame or body of the thermostat. There is usually a wire from active or the + side of the main terminal block or supply cord. The other terminal usually goes to the compressor. Basically, a thermostat turns the compressor on and off to maintain the temperature in the fridge its just an on / off switch..

Iceream is not freezing

The temperature is not set to high cooling.First check the temperature setting. But if temperature is set right and still the ice cream is not cooling then .Problem relates to weak compressor. ------------- The problem is weak compressor. The refrigerant ( R12) in the compressor is got low.The compressor is weak. The compressor needs to be replaced.-------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned that ice cream is not freezing, so that means freezer is not freezing to its required temperature.------- This indicates problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My hoover hfa29k fridge freezer originally started to freeze the contents of the fridge and appeared to be running continuously.I unplugged it and left it for about an hour and then switched it back on...

1. is light on in side when you open the door. If not check breakers or fuses.
2. Can you hear the compressor running. If not do you hear any clicking sounds.
3. If you hear clicking sounds, try putting a fan on compressor and unplug refrigerator.
4. Wait one hour.
5. plug back in. If compressor starts let it run and see if it cools, if it doesnt, call service man.
6. If it goes back to clicking, call a service man.
Try this and let me know.

Many (but certainly not all) refrigerators have a Defrost Timer. Google this item and you will find thousands of entries. This timer effectively does what you did by unplugging it for a couple of hours. If Ice forms, it is likely that your compressor is fine or at least working well enough to create ice in the back of the freezer. A very inexpensive way to see if this is your problem is to plug your refrigerator into a 24 hour programmable timer with 22 1/2 hours ON and 1 1/2 hours OFF (set this for 2AM or so when you are not using the refrigerator). If everything is fine after 3 or 4 weeks, then order the timer for your refrigerator. There are MANY google entries which will help you test your timer if you have a multimeter or know someone who does and knows how to use it.

Amana fridge/freezer compressor problem

Unplug unit.

It's not possible to tell which without replacing the starting system. Hard start kit would be fine. RCO410 is common. If it starts the unit the next check would be an ampmeter clamped onto one of the power leads. The ampmeter for refrigerators of that age may read around 2-5 amps when running. If it's much higher than 5 Amps after it's running be prepared to replace the compressor. Maybe it won't quit today...but it won't last with high amperage. If it doesn't start with this kit you need compressor.

if you overcharged unit then u will get a frost build up on one of the lines coming off the compressor. if the compressor is not running then you will not get any cold air flow at all. if unit is stuck in defrost then no cold air will be dispensed either. you really need to check to see if you have a frost build up on the rear wall of freezer, if so then u are not going through defrost. to check proper level of freon u need a set of r12 gages. your level of freon will be displayed on the model serial number tag in fridge side. let me know and we will go futher.

Where do you have it set. The normal settings would be...Freezer should be -5 to +5 degrees and Fresh food compartment 38F to 42F. It's not unusual for modern R134A refrigerant refrigerators to run much more than their older R12 counterparts.
