Camer says lens cap on but it is not!

The internal iris is probably stuck closed. This is not a repair for anyone that has not worked on cameras before. The lens assembly must be removed and the iris section dis-assembled, and cleaned. Once that is done, it must be re-assembled. There is a possibility that the iris control motor is bad too. You can try tapping the side of the camera close to the lens area to see if you can free the iris, just don't hit it too hard.
