The shaft attached to the pedal connects to a device that changes the forward motion of the pedal to a backward motion to the clutch. These shafts are attached with cotter pins and you might be lucky and simply broke one. Check this site for how a clutch works:

Reattaching the shafts with new cotter pins isn't hard. But if one is broken, you have to get a replacement. Try a junk yard, it's cheaper.
