RCA DRC8335 No power

Could be a faulty power supply in the actual unit. Check inside it for a fuse on the circuit board while its unplugged could be blown. Usually power into unit is higher AC voltage (DEATH) and a transformer lowers the voltage so if you take it to a technician they should be able to measure the lower dc voltages to see if the power supply is working ok and if any fuses are blown.

Plug drc8335 in I get hello but will not turn on

That is the same problem I had with mine. The problem is one (or two) of the capacitors on the power supply board. If you can solder you can replace them yourself for a few bucks. You can tell which ones they are by looking at the tops of them and they will be bulged out slightly. The fixes I found mentioned one specific capacitor, but I found a 2nd one that was bad as well. I replaced those and it worked fine, although it will freeze from time to time after constant use, I haven't gotten to diagnosing that problem. I just have been unplugging and plugging it back in.

There's a blown capacitor in your machine (when you open it up, the capacitors are the little things that look like pop cans). If you are good with a soldering iron (or know somebody who is), they should be able to replace the blown capacitor with a minimum of fuss. I believe the board location is C226.

Unit just gets stuck at Hello sign. Reset unit several times. Unplugged and replugged unit, but didn't fix problem. No menu items display on TV. Unable to open DVD tray. Unable to play or record VHS tape....

You have a blown capacitor in your machine. If you are good with a soldering iron, great, you can fix it yourself. Otherwise, find a friend who is good with a soldering iron. Parts should cost you less than $2 for a new capacitor. Replaced the blown capacitor in my machine, and my tape popped out with no fuss once I powered the system back up.

Unit unresponsive - see detail below

Thanks to the help on this forum, I was able to fix my DRC8335 power supply. C226 was the problem, went to Radio Shack and found the 470uf 35V replacement. It came up and worked like a charm after soldering it in. (See the picture of the cap on the board). It was just slightly swollen when viewed from the top but when i removed it, the bottom was really distorted. Thanks to micro065 and Mike Powellebbca66.jpg
