Question about Audio Players & Recorders

My MP3 player (Phillips GoGear, SA6045, 4GB) is breaking. The first symptom I noticed was that when I turn it on, the ?Updating Player? message shows for a long time. Next, I noticed an album was missing, even though it is still on my Windows Media Player library and I synced, just to be sure. Then I noticed that songs, albums and artists were starting to be out of alphabetical order, and finally, songs are now appearing with the title ?WMPinfo?. The same thing actually happened with my last Phillips MP3 player, the same model. That one just kept on disintegrating until now all it lists are ?Unknown? and ?WMPinfo? and when I try to play those ?songs?, the player generally tells me that the ?file format not supported!?. I guess I shouldn?t have bought the same model a second time after it broke, but I really liked the player while it still worked! Help! I don?t want to have to buy a new player! Thanks.

    I haven't tried formatting it - how do I do that? Will I find instructions in the instruction manual?

Did you try formatting the MP3 player?
If not I would recommend you to format to the MP3 player and load the songs in it completely.

Check for any firmware updates for the player.

Drain out the power completely clear memory and try loading the songs in it completely.

If none of these work then I would recommend you to contact Philips because these is a common problem in all the Philips players for either a replacement or a warranty support.

    Connect the player to the Laptop/ Computer. Right click on the drive which shows up in the My computer/ Computer. Choose the option called "Format" and do a complete a complete format and not quick format.

    Kindly comment if the OS is Mac.

My gogear vibe keeps on getting frozen after updating and charging

I actually have the exact same issue with my phillips. Make sure you dont have overloaded drive. thats when i seem to lock up. i try and leave a 1/2 gig buffer in there.

My Phillips GoGear MP4 player stopped updating at 99% and will not continue.

1. Launch Philips Songbird program from Windows start menu. The program can be found on GoGear Accessories disk, or you can download it from:

2. Reset your GoGear player while holding Volume+ key and immediately connect it to computer. (You should do it before "Udating at ..." message appears.)

3. From Songbird menu choose Tools -> Repair my GoGear Vibe.

4. Follow the instructions.

Philips GoGear HDD6330 MP3 Player will not sync music files onto it? How do I fix that and has deleted all previous ones! Please help>

This could be the player's connection mode in combination with your synchronization software. If you are using Windows Media Player or Philips Songbird to sync, the player will need to be set for MTP connection mode. Most other software that works with regular flash drives will need the player set for MSC connection mode. Whatever you are using, simply try the other mode.

To change the connection mode, select "PC connection preference" in the Settings menu of the player.

My Phillips GoGear 8gb won't stop freezing while it updates

You need to go to Philips website, get the updated version of the Philips Device Manager, and then click on the Update tab on the NEW device manager to update the firmware on the player. It will resolve the freezing issue.

Shuts off when turned on

You can definitely use Windows Media Player - in fact, it is the reccomended program.

From your description, it sounds like you might have turned your mp3 player on before fully charging it. Let it charge for 3-4 hours before adding music or doing anything else. The "updating" message will eventually go away as long as you don't unplug the player from the computer before it finishes updating. If you do unplug the player from the PC while it is updating, you will effectively destroy your GoGear.

Phillips gogear is frozen

Press and hold the Power On/Off key and the Volume + key for a couple of seconds to reset

If that alone fails, run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager

Repair the GoGear - warning: this will delete all files from your player.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new
