Same problem I have the same problem. When I by-pass the router and connect direct to my modem it works just fine. I tried disabling the WAN Ping Blocking but that didn't work.

Hi! I will be more than glad to assist u in this concern..That is right! if u bypass the router it will work, the reason why the modem wont talk to the router bcoz the router is not properly setup.. if you are using a cable modem from ur cable company provider- u need to do a mac clone on the router u have to clone the mac address of ur computer. normaly the mac of ur computer is the one register to your cable company and on the setup page of the router just selct on the internet setup, dhcp after clonning the mac address of your computer. u need to connect ur computer directly to the router and then after doing the process connect the router to the modem. if u are using a username and password, u have to use the pppoe settings on the router, if ur isp set a static ip , set it up to the router, to check the ip setting of your isp.. connect the computer directly to the modem and check if u have internet.. then click on start, run and type cmd,it will give u a dos prompt and from there type ipconfig/all and it will show u the ip address, subnetmask, default gateway, dns server.. I hope this will solve ur concern..

I have a samsung tv , and im setting up my INTERNET@TV , it ticks off everything but the Gateway Ping ! Please Help

If the Gateway Ping test fails, then your TV is not communicating properly with your Router or Modem.
To resolve this, follow these steps:
  1. Power off your TV, Modem, and Router.
  2. Unplug the power for your Modem and Router.
  3. Make sure the ethernet cable is securely connected to both your TV and your Router or Modem.
  4. Plug in your Modem and turn it on.
  5. Plug in your Router and turn it on.
  6. Make sure your IP Address information entered into the TV during the Network Setup matches the information from your Router or Modem.
  • If you are using an Automatic Setup (most users), skip this step.
  • If you are using a Manual Setup (advanced users), contact your network administrator to determine what the correct IP Address information is.
7. Run the Network Test again.
  • If the Gateway Ping test passes, but another test fails, click here to go back to the list of Network Tests.
  • If all tests pass, the TV is successfully connected to your network.
  • If the Gateway Ping test fails again, see below....
If the Gateway Ping test fails again, there may be a problem with your network setup. To determine if there is a problem with your network, follow these steps:
  1. Power off your TV, Modem, and Router.
  2. Unplug the power for your Modem and Router.
  3. Connect your ethernet cable directly to the TV and Modem.
  4. Plug in your Modem and turn it on.
  5. Power on the TV and run the Network Tests again.
  • If all tests pass successfully, then there is a problem with your Router setup. Contact your network administrator or router manufacturer for information on setting up your network.
  • If all tests do not pass successfully, there may be a problem with the TV. Connect another device (such as a Computer) directly to the modem.
  • If the other device connects to the internet, then the TV will require service. Click the Create online service request button below to have the TV repaired.
  • If the other device does not connect to the internet when directly connected to the modem, then there may be a problem with your modem. Contact your Internet Service Provider for help on troubleshooting your modem.

Nothing connects from the router online pluged the computer directly to modem so how do I check if the router is working or not

Check ur cable between modem and pc. Ensure that led glows on ur LAN port of pc. Then from pc, try to ping router's ip address.
Ex: ping 192.168.1.1
If u receive response from the router, then the connection is fine.
Else there might some problem on ur router. Replace the router and try again.

My computer can see the router and the router sees the modem but i cant get the internet to my computer

by "see" you mean it answers to ping test? if so I guess that when you ping some public IP (eg. 4.2.2.2) it does not get a ping reply... right? have you tested pinging an IP address or a internet domain. If IP address works fine but domain doesnt your problem is on DNS resolution, if both of them doesnt work seem something routing/conectivity related, try running a tracert from your PC and see how far you get on the network. If you dont pass your router then you must check its WAN configuration.

Wireless Router showing as connected, but cannot access Internet.

You have _THREE_ separate network connections to check:

1. your router, through your ADSL modem, to your ISP;

2. your computer, through an Ethernet cable, to your router;

3. your computer, through its wireless adapter, to the wireless adapter in your router.

So:

1. Connect the Ethernet cable from your laptop directly to your ADSL modem, bypassing the router.
Turn the router off.
Restart the modem.
Restart the computer.
Click Start
Click Run
Enter CMD and press ENTER
Enter IPCONFIG and press ENTER
You should get output like:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
* IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 123.456.789.249
* Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 123.456.789.1
* Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Enter PING 123.456.789.1 and press ENTER
If PING does not respond, then telephone your ISP, and get them to trouble-shoot your connection.

2. Turn off the ADSL modem.
Connect the Ethernet cable from your laptop to one of the LAN ports on the router.
Turn the router on.
Restart your computer.
Click Start
Click Run
Enter CMD and press ENTER
Enter IPCONFIG and press ENTER
You should get output like:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
* IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.100
* Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
* Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Enter PING 192.168.0.1 and press ENTER
If PING does not respond, then your router is not working.
If PING does respond, connect another Ethernet cable from the WAN port on the router to the ADSL modem.
Turn the modem on, and wait until the flashing-lights on the modem, and on the router, settle-down to a steady pattern.
Type PING WWW.GOOGLE.COM and press ENTER.
If PING responds, then everything is fine.

3. If you fix #1 and #2, above, then your wireless adapter should work.

D-Link DI-524 is not communicating with modem

Checklist:
* Is DHCP configured correctly?
* Connect your server and laptop to a switch (not directly with the cable)
* Can they ping each other?
* Check that the firewall is configured (or switched off if you have another FW in place)
* Default gateway should be your router, not the computers (until you have configured RRAS for example)

Here you can find more information about how to configure various roles in 2008: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/2008/default.aspx

D Link model 2310

When you connected your PC directly to the modem, were you able to get the internet working automatically or did you have to run a dialup-like connection?

If it worked automatically, try this:
1. Connect a PC to a numbered port of the Dlink router (don't connect the modem to the router nor the PC)
2. Open Internet Explorer and enter http://192.168.0.1 on the address bar. This should then ask you to login. (restart the router and the PC if nothing happened then try again)
3. Enter admin for the username and blank for the password
4. Once you're on the Dlink Setup page, click on Network Settings on the left panel.
5. Change the Router IP address to 192.168.2.1 then hit Save Settings
6. Now, connect a cable from the Speedstream modem to the WAN port of the Dlink router then check if your internet is working from the wired PC.

If its still not working, turn off the modem and the router and then power the modem first (wait for the lights to be stable) then plug the router.

Hope this works for you. Goodluck!

Siements 5890 router

When you say HQ is that outside on the wan port trying to ping the Lan port?
Sometimes the router itself will respond to a ping but will not pass ping requests thru as the internal firewall can never be fully shutoff unless you are running your cisco switch as a DMZ
also are you connecting your other pc's to the cisco or to the 5890.
Instead of shutting off the firewall completely try enabling bridge mode and give your cisco the outside IP addy.

D-Link Router & Actiontec Modem

Hi,

connect the Dlink router to the modem ActionTech->( wan port )Dlink. Login to the Router web-interface and go to STATUS & check the WAN IP address which would be modem ip address. if there is an ip address, do ping test on your computer to that ip address and see you are getting successful ping results. If so, the ping yahoo.com and see there is an successful ping for yahoo.
- If there is No WAN IP in STATUS Page, Connect the computer directly to the modem and let me know the ip address you are getting. Can I know your ISP name please?
