Craftsman blower stalls when choke is disengaged

I have a Craftsman Blower (Model 358.794964) that stalls when I try to turn the choke off. It starts fine and will idle but as soon as I try to turn the choke off it dies. Also, I can't increase the throttle (can't get it past half throttle) without applying more choke. Any thoughts??

You need to play with the timing adjustment, either on the spark plug, or the gap between the contact and the magneto.
That'll do it ;)

The carburetor needs a simple adjustment. unfortunately, it requires a special tool. any good shop should have the tool, or it could be under warranty if it's less than 2 years old

My craftsman leaf blower backpack 32 cc 4 cycle engine stalls when I open the choke?

Sounds like the carb is getting "vanished" from using ethanol gas. You need to use only non-ethanol gas in small engines. Use some sea-foam in it to help clean it out. Or you may need a new carb. They are really not expensive.

Will start and run at half choke. stalls as soon as choke is moved to run.

Check age of gas. Cannot be more than 30 days old. Make sure to use fresh gas w/synthetic 2-cycle oil @ 40:1 ratio (1 gal.) Gas to 3.2 oz. Oil). Do not use old or stale oil/gas mixture. Always use the proper oil/gas mix. If you do not, your engine will suffer rapid, permanent damage. May need to clean or replace carburetor.

Try running some fuel system cleaner through it. A good choice is Chem Tools Berryman B-12. There are some hardworking solvents in the product that could help you overcome a dirty carburetor. Initially use a good, strong dose. Maybe double what they recommend . (1 oz/gallon). If this doesn't work, the carb will probably need to be removed and inspected and cleaned.

Craftsman 2 cycle blower stalls.

Hello,

Most Probably the problem lies in the adjustment of the carburettor. There are two needles in the carb one for lowend adjustment and one for high end adjustment. Your lowend adjustment seems fine. The highend needle needs to be adjusted. Following are some very detailed procedures for adjusting these types of carbs

http://tech.flygsw.org/walbro_tuneup.htm

http://www.drystacked.com/Walbro%20Carburetor%20Theory%20ebook1.pdf

If your machine has a carb other than a "Walbro" dont worry the procedures are same. I am sure if your engine has not completed its life span this will solve your problem.

Craftsman 32cc blower stalls

Your carb is leaning out, causing the thing to die. Try adjusting the mixture screw (out) to richen the mixture. If there is a cap, you can pull it off to go richer. If that doesn't work, either the filter/pickup is plugged, the fuel line is kinked/smashed, or the carb needs to come apart to be cleaned.

Craftsman gas leafblower

Hey Karl,

To me this sounds like its getting too much fuel after it has been warmed up so either there is too much gas flow to the unit or there is not enough. check your primer bulb once this happens if there is a full bulb when it shuts down chances are its getting too much gas, if its empty then its not getting enough and your fuel filter could be starting to plug up or is not in the tank properly.
