Question about Sharp AR-405 Printer

2 Answers

The problem I am having is this: The unit will not power on but I can hear a clicking sound coming from the back of the copier. And I can see an LED flashing on the main board but it will not come on. Belive it could be a sensor. It was working fine until I turned it off and then back on after having problem with the output carriage. After I corrected that it printed and outputted fine. Then when I turned if off and back on the power would not come on.

I was poking around in the copier but I could not see a relay, I have accessed the board from the back of the copier and noticed a red led blinking when I turn on the power and hear the clicking. If I try to unplug the power for 24hrs and this does not correct the problem. Where would the relay be? On the power supply or main board?

If you can see a led flashing, try pressing the stop/cancel and holding for a few seconds, like 10 minutes until the flashing stops.

Also, look for possible paper jam.

As for the sensor, tiny paper shreds might be blocking it so you might as well want to look at it too.

Could be faulty capacitor on the power supply or main board. It is usually the power supply. Try unplugging machine for 24 to reset itself and then try again. If you are hearing a clicking noise, it could be power supply or a relay if there is one in your unit.

Sometimes clicking, or popping sounds from subs are caused by over excursion of the subwoofer, wich can be caused by ultra low frequency, or going below the tuned frequency of your enclosure.

Won't power up; push power button on, hear click in back left of unti, get nothing on front display and no output from speakers; as if unit trying to operate

Disconnect the speakers and see what happens. Carefully examine the speaker cables for unwanted connections (shorts).
Take a clue from when the power problem appeared. Something was moved and made the buzz a (probable) dead short.

NO PICTURE, NO SOUND On My Plasma TV.

Should have been 3300 UF 10V caps that were bad? Shouls have been replaced with 3300UF 18V. 50V is huge. If it was replaced with a 50 the polarity may be wrong or the cap it too big to be seated property. Sometimes the caps just dry out and even a normal looking one will be the culprit of no OSD. Are you getting an LED fault code blinking? That should be a red led. Do you hear the relay clicking.? When you replaced the caps did you charge them? Just plugging in the set without trying to power it on for about 20-30 mins. I may be able to help you
