Yes. you will usually be responsible for the purchase of the part and shipping if it is needed. you may find some repair techs in your immediate area, but this is rare. the optical assembly will cost about 95 dollars and the labor will vary from shop to shop.

Typical repair cost will be around 250 dollars. this is including the shipping fee and parts and labor.

My dvd player was working fine this morning and now it's not reading discs. What can I do to fix this or do I need to buy a new dvd player? It is a Dual Deck DVD/VCR Player MVD4544 model

Good day!

This are the common and basic causes reading disc failure of DVD players.Try this D.I.Y procedure before you buy a new player.
  1. Check the CD itself. If the CD got many scratches, replace it.
  2. Clean the DVD lens using CD cleaner.
  3. Try to use other new CD or the one with no scratch.
  4. If the steps # 1 to 3 are not successful. The problem could be on DVD lens.
  5. If the DVD lens is defective you better to buy a new player.Because the lens is expensive and it is not easy to install on DVD player.

I hope this information will be helpful.Thank you and good luck.

CD player will not recognise or play disc

Hi,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load Cd's. The weak lens is also what's making it not recognize or play disc.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all Cd's with no problem at all.

Good luck.

Nad 502 CD will not recognise and play CD every time

HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail. This is connected to the loading dock assembly. This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens, or misaligned loading mechanism. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.

You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more

Does not recognise that a cd is in machine

HELLO
If the unit is not "seeing" a CD in the drive it may be that the laser lens needs cleaning. There are various CD cleaners on the market but the best way I find is with a cotton bud and some isopropyl alcohol (the sort of thing you clean cassette/vcr tape paths with).
Take the lid off the unit (and as I have said before - think safety). If you cannot do the job yourself get someone who can and have the unit unplugged at the mains. OK! Put some on cotton bud (not too much) and clean off any excess. Using a gentle circular motion clean the lens. With the dry end of the bud clean the lens again as I have specified. Try the machine - if all is well - good! If it still has a problem seeing the disc then the laser block may have gone defective which means only two things. Get the laser block replaced (expensive) or just as cheap, get a new CD player which might be the better option.
ALL THE BEST! :-)

YOUR DVD PLAYER HAS THE PROBLEM WITH THE LENS INSIDE THE UNIT. THE ONE WHO READ THE CD'S. YOU HAVE TO ADJUST THE TWO SMALL ADJUSTMENT AT THE BACK OF THE LENS OR IN THE SIDE OF IT. AFTER ADJUSTMENT, IF THE PROBLEM STILL THERE, THEN YOU HAVE TO REPLACE A NEW LENS. KIMTECH....e.bacaro@yahoo.com
