If the power is on, what is it you are trying to do?
If you are running Vista, there sometimes is a problem waking up from hibernation.
To restart the computer, you need to unplug it and remove the battery.
After waiting maybe a minute or so, replace the battery and plug it back in and see if it starts.

How do I take desk top out of sleep mode

Wiggle your mouse!
I have had a comp which refused to come out of sleep mode. In the end I had to set it not to go to sleep. To do this goto Control Panel > Power Options/Schemes.
There you will see a choice of times 'before going to sleep', including 'never'. Try to avoid this if possible as it adds a lot to wear of hard drive

Samsung blue screen sleep

Blue Screen Sleep? Is it it sleep or hibernation mode or are you saying the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) which will not allow you to boot successfully?

If it's in sleep or hibernation mode, then check your Power Options in the Control Panel. Set the sleep or hibernation up high or set it to NEVER. Click Start/Control Panel or Start/Settings/Control Panel and look for the Power Options.

If it's the Blue Screen of Death that is preventing windows from booting up, try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

My dell inspiron 1545 refuses to boot after gone to sleep

This happen to my 1525 and XPS system when I upgrade to Win7. Check your power option by going into your control panel --> hardware and sound --> power options -->advance setting or just click the battery icon on the bottom right by your clock and click "more power option". You can change it to where it will not turn off your hard drive when in sleep mode. I recommend checking the Dell recommended setting. You may also need to update your bios, system firmware and hard drive drive firmware. you can download from Dell support. Enter your service tag # to get the right firmware specfic to your system. If it still fail than you will need to take it to a tech for more troubeshooting of the hard drive or mother board.

Emachine sleep mode

Try going into your cmos settings at system boot (usually hitting delete or F keys, funtion keys as your computer first turns on). Check to to see the boot sequence and look for sleep mode settings. If there isnt an option there, boot your system in safe mode and check through your windows settings for sleep mode settings.

Dell comp

Hi,
To help you better , could you let me know , when the system goes into sleep mode, the power light in the front of the tower is it amber or blinking amber or is it of some other color.

If the power button is blinking amber , the power supply on the unit is going bad.

Thanks
