Emerson's site does not list any 72" TVs. The largest that I see is a 55" model. There are a few common locations for the buttons, though. Some models have the buttons near the center front of the TV. Sometimes these buttons are on the bottom of the bezel. A few models have the buttons on the right hand side of the TV. The Emerson LF501EM4 and LF461EM4 both have the buttons on the lower back of the TV on the right hand side as you face the TV.

If the buttons are in a horizontal line, the power button will be on the far right (when you look at the front of the TV). If the buttons are positioned vertically, the power button will be at the top.

The manuals are available from Emerson Audio Video on the product page or the support page for current models. Start at http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/ . Funai manufactures the TVs with the Emerson name. For older TV models, try http://www.funai-corp.com/support/manuals.aspx to find the manual.

WIthout the model number of the TV, I can't give any better information about the location of the front panel control buttons. I hope that your TV has the control buttons in one of the three above locations.

SOURCE: TV Powered Off, won't come back on

mine did the same thing, I took it to a TV repair store and they said it was a power surge which damaged the power source board. (possibly caused by lightening)
total cost to repair was $70.00 well worth since was only couple years old.
TV is working well.------we'll see for how long????

SOURCE: Emerson flat screen tv with red stripe

The pixels on your screen are controlled by a matrix composed of switches that turn off and on to produce light.

They are located vertically and horizontally, row-wise and must function together to produce everything from black (everything turned on so no light, or very little, can escape) to layers that represent the three colors that are used alone or in combination to produce the millions of possible shades of each.

One of the switches that controls one of the vertical columns has failed and has turned on the entire column that allows red to display.

The problem switch (a semiconductor combined with many) is permanently turned on, probably part of the screen assembly itself, and was placed with others by robots.
The pin spacing on these 'chips' is very small and often makes the assembly unrepairable.

While LCD panels have fallen hugely in price, you may be looking at a parts cost (labor is probably not too bad) that may make you decide to replace the set.

Unfortunately, the once-proud Emerson name has sadly been degraded and there is a lot of their electronics available from companies that specialize in 'refurbished' products, an indication that they have a large failure rate.

SOURCE: Can't see the top or bottom of screen on my emerson 32" Flat Scre

If it's like mine, there should be a screen mode button on your remote. Keep pressing it to change to different settings.

We gave an Emerson 50 tv. The picture is too large for the screen. For instance, you can't see the score for the football game. On the remote, I adjusted with button on the remote for picture size.

Just initialize the TV. It will make it alright to factory conditions. Proceed.
1. Turn the power on.
2. Enter the service mode.
- To cancel the service mode, press [POWER]
button on the remote control unit.
3. Press [BACK] button to enter the Panel Key
Confirmation Menu.
4. Press any button on the touch sensor panel.
5. Press [INFO] button to proceed with the self check
mode.
6. Make sure to confirm the "INITIALIZED FINISH"
appears in the green screen.
7. Unplug the AC Cord and plug it back on again.

I have a new Emerson LC320EMX 32" TV. The suddenly stopped working right. It will not turn off. There is no picture, only colored screens. When you change the channel it just shows a different color...

Your TV is still in the factory test mode. To remove from the tech service mode try this.To exit the service mode, grab the original remote. Press the cursor left followed by the cursor right button. Now press the off button on the remote or on the TV itself. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!
