I opened the door on this frig this morning and water poured out like a small river! It filled the frig, and leaked below into the basement. Horrible! I noticed the water streaming out of the built-in ge water filter in the top at right. I unscrewed it and the water stopped. Now, after 3 hours of clean-up....the refrigerator is losing temperature and warming in both the frig and freezer sides. I don't hear it come on anymore.

If you have an automatic ice maker, it could not be functioning anymore. We got a new fridge and are using the old fridge as an overflow. We cut off the ice maker and we don't have the water streaming down to the bottom of the fridge anymore. The old fridge is 26 yrs old.

Obviously a filter leak. the water shuts off when the filter is removed. either it wasn't installed properly or it has a bad gasket. as for the fridge getting warm, the water probably collected and froze to the evaporator coils and now resrticts the cold air flow. you need to turn off the fridge, empty it out, leave the freezer door open, and let the coils defrost on their own. or remove the back panel in the freezer and defrost the coils with a hair dryer. you will need to soak up some water, but not nearly as much. once it's defrosted, dry it out, close the doors and turn it on while it's empty. when it's cold enough, replace the food.

I recently bought a new rv with a samsung rf217 frig. How do I winterize it? Product lit not clear.

You do not need to do anything to the refrigerator. Just make sure it is wiped down and dry before you close it. What you need to do for winterizing is drain all of the water out of the tanks, water heater and lines. After that is done then pour RV antifreeze into your fresh water tank and pump it through all of your faucets. Once you see the pink color come out then you have it through the lines. You should have what is called a bypass valve for your water heater so you don't have to fill it completely with antifreeze. Next is to take out your battery and store it in your basement or somewhere it wont freeze. Do not put it directly on the ground. Put cardboard or something under it.

The water lines are generally run up from the basement. You should see a small coppper line entering the rear of the frig. Go directly below the unit and see if you can locate it, then see if there's a valve on the line where it attaches to a water line. Turn the valve clockwise until it stops.

Water Pouring out of door, appliance stuck on wash

dishwasher leaking from the door or from the bottom of the door is common problem and yes its advisable to get it fixed.but if its having any other problem other then leaking then it has to be checked first.but leaking problem is common it can be solved.first from which part of the door area the leak is occuring that has to be checked.
Some common leaking trouble makers....
Leaks at the door:
Door gasket loose/torn
Corner gaskets or door baffle/vent gasket
Door lock/latch loose/broken
Split spray arm
Over filling with water...usually the level is just under the heating element is normal
Something leaking through the door...like the soap or rinse agent dispenser gasket, silverware basket button.
Door hinge(s) bent
Wrong soap was used...dish sink soap instead of dishwasher soap
Rinse aid being used with mechanically softened water ( makes foam or suds inside the dishwasher )

Leaks from under the unit:
Look for whiting or calcium stain on the motor and pump assembly = motor and pump assembly seal leak...access panel removal help
Hose for upper spray arm split
Fill hose split or fill hose spout air inlet is calcium covered
Drain hose is split
Rusted liner...metal liners only
Fill valve leaking or allowing water to fill all the time
Heating element ends....where they come out through the dishwasher liner
Float or float gasket
for parts you can get it from

Water leaking from freezer

Check for a blocked defrost drain. Take the panel off at the back of the freezer section and find the small hole at the very bottom center below the cooling coils. Use hot (but not boiling) water and a turkey baster to flush it out until water runs through it. (it will go into the defrost drain pan, where it will evaporate)
This will prevent water from comming out the freezer door and leaking onto your floor and running down your copper pipe to the basement.

GE Freezer Leaking

Open the freezer door, remove the bottom tray, smash the ice on the floor with your fist to remove it. Now get a glass of hot water and pour it into the trough which is at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer. Allow a few minutes for the ice to melt then remove it with an ice pick or scrrewdriver. Once the ice is out, pour more hot water into the trough. Now take a long tube ( an old washer fill hose works perfectly) and stick one end in the hole in the trough. Now fill your mouth with warm water and blow it very hard through the tube. Once the drain is clear, pour some hot water and a very little amount of bleach through the hole.
