Cyan missing on parts of a print out - Canon MP500

I have a Canon MP500 and when I print color (could be green, reds, any colour), just cyan will be missing out of only a small part of the page. It will be the same part of the IMAGE (not same part of the page) no matter how you rotate the page layout in the print options. When I print a full page of 100% cyan, it comes out fine & no cyan is missing.
I have done all the alignments, deep cleans & had the print head cleaned & it's still happening! It's driving me crazy. Any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully received!
Thanks!

Common problem with this (and other) canon printers. I usually just lift the cover and lift the highlighted tank out and put it back in, sometimes I have to do that 2 or 3 times before it will let me print. If lifting that tank doesn't do it, try lifting all the tanks and putting them back. Eventually you will get a message that the tank you are refilling is empty (even if it's full). When that happens, press and hold the "stop/reset" button for 5 seconds (this is from Canon) then you will get a message that Canon will not be responsible for damage to the printer because you are using different ink than theirs (just ignore it). You can also try cleaning the contact points on both ink cartridge and on printer w/ cotton swab lightly dipped in alcohol.

Did you replace the tri-colour ink-cartridge, or did you replace the print-head mechanism?

Are you sure that the CYAN part of the ink-cartridge is not empty?

Cyan cartridge is OK, means that the display shows the level of toner in the cartridge, right? Then chip it is ok.
Try another cyan toner, the printer may be that it has broken the opening flap of the laser. Or check if the laser's flap cyan is blocked.

Wrong colour

Have you done the nozzle check print? It would show if any colors are missing. While ready with the green light on, press and hold the resume button until the green light flashes twice and release, it will print the nozzle check. You also can't use the photo magenta or photo cyan in this machine, you need the regular cartridges.

Do you have photo cyan or photo magenta installed? your machine does not use these inks, and will give wrong colors. You need plain magenta and plain cyan. If you are using generic inks, they could have bad colors too.

Simply using too much ink

Your MP500 is similar to my MP780. I don't think you can get anything from the stores. It is hard to tell if the yield of 200 is accurate or not. It probably is but a lot depends o the images and text you are printing. If you print the color red, your yellow and magenta cartridges will be used to produce red. So in effect you will use up 2 colors to produce one color. To print something in greed your printer will mix the Cyan and Yellow (I think) and for blue it will mix Cyan and Magenta. So if you are wanting to print something for your own use, I suggest you print in black/greyscale only and in draft mode. However for presentation, I think it is best you do the standard printing. Black in draft mode I understand only uses the PG5 black cartridge. If you print anything in colors specially pictures, there is no way to accurately determine the yield and not a good idea to scrimp on the ink or else you get a poor quality picture.
