Capacitors. they look like small cans on the power supply. if you do in fact know which ones are bad, you need to replace them with the exact same size, type, voltage and microferads. and a soldering iron. not recomended if you have never done it before. but if it's not on the power supply, the caps are a little bigger than the head of a pin, so do not try to replace them.

The TV has some defects on the board such as leaky/dry capacitors and/or dry solder. This may need attention by a qualified service technician.

Either the power switch on the remote or on the TV do not work? Any indicator light on the front at all?
If all of the above are true, then you will have to open it up and inspect the power supply main AC fuse, caps, connectors, etc.

Red power light blinks when tv is turned on and theres no image what so ever

When you remove the back of the set. You will fined a couple of caps on the power supply board that are bulged and they need to be replaced, or you can buy a new power supply at www.partstore.com. If you want to just purchase the caps, you can get them at www.mcmelectronics.com

My tv shut off by itself and will not come back on. I left it off overnight and tried to turn it on but still will not work

you will more than likely need someone to physically troubleshoot it. i have replaced many power supplies under warranty due to bad caps, transistors, and diodes. if there are bulged caps on the power supply it might be a diy thing if you have tools and expertise working with electronics

Power cord issue? Black Screen with image issue?

The powere cord you are using is fine (the cord is made to handle the 10A load, you are only drawing 1.5A). The monitor uses switching mode power supply that can handle any voltage INPUT between 100v up to 240v. More likely to be bad caps in the power supply. See example of failed Westinghouse due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Samsung caps
http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachments/lcd-televisions/128595d1247354171-samsung-40-lcd-one-year-old-beyond-repair-caps.jpg

Above should be a link to a picture of the caps if not google " Samsung power supply caps" and look for other images.
Hope this helps

Once the back cover is removed the caps are obvious to spot (especially with that picture I forwarded) you need to label and remove all the plugs - unscrew the board from the chassis so you can get to the solder side of the board.
Once there all that is required is to observe how the caps are placed in - and + side of caps and unsolder the old caps 10V 1000Uf and replace with new ones of higher value 16V 1000Uf

If your feeling adventurous do it yourself otherwise get quote from a reputable shop.

Also google "Samsung power supply capacitor replacement" and there may be step-by-step instructions with pix.

The problem is when you switch it off, especially using the button it will not come back on. You have to leave it disconnected from the mains for at least an hour, sometimes overnight.

Replace all electrolytic caps on small upright boads on the power supply board.
Be aware of high voltages on power supply leave set unpluged for at least one hour befor working on the power supply to let the main electrolytics discharge.

Had a power outage, acer monitor will not power up

Normally there is a fuse that can be replaced inside on the power supply board. The are usually "slow blow" fuses and need to be replaced by an equivalent fuse. Many monitors have a soft switch which is controlled by the main board that tells the relays to supply power from the power supply. The CMOS devices on these boards are very suceptible to static so ground your hand to the chassis before touching any boards. If the backlight is out but there is a faint image on the screen when you look at it closely then the inverter board or CFT tubes are suspect. BTW: watch the Power supply and inverter boards as the caps stay charged and could result in electrical shock. Good luck. Hope this helps.
