Brother Intellifax 1270
The glass maybe a very thin strip of glass call a CIS (Contact Image Scanner) not more then about a 1/2 to 1" strip it mite be located where the paper begins to bend as it goes thru the document feeder or underneath the document feeder. If you machine is high end you may have one on the top and glass on the bottom to read both fron and back of document instead of running the document twice thru the document feeder

Check the scanner glass under the cover where the documents are fedd through if you lift the lid on this you should see a thin slip of glass if this has ink or usually tipex on it the lines will be on every fax that goes out.. there might be a small roller over this that has a clip each end you can take this out for acces to hte glass
SOURCE: lines when faxed
It's probably pen ink or white out on the scanner glass. Open up the door covering the document feeder and clean the glass.
