Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
This is Canon Support, and the support page for the Canon Selphy CP740,
On this page go down to the heading -> Compact Photo Printer
Under this heading you'll see tabs. The ->
Support and Service tab will be highlighted. Go to the right of this tab, and click on the ->
Drivers and Downloads tab.
On the Drivers and Downloads page you'll see
-> Please select your operating system to view available drivers and software
To the right of that is a box with -> SELECT OS, in it, and a down arrow to the right of the box. Click on the down arrow. Choose the Operating System you're using. (OS)
You choose it by clicking right on the name.
You will automatically be taken to the appropriate Drivers and Downloads.
Download the Driver. It's in Red.
Windows XP uses the CP740.exe driver
Windows Vista uses the CP740_32.exe driver
After you click on the driver Execute file that is in Red, you'll be taken automatically to another page. Go down, and click on -> I Agree - Begin Download
A small window will come up. Click on the rectangular box that has -> Save File, in it.
You should see a download progression bar, showing the progress of downloading.
Unless you have your downloads saved to go to your My Documents folder, (Start>My Documents), this file will download to your desktop screen.
In either case, when you see it, double-click on it. The Installation Wizard should now come up to install this file. Follow the simple instructions. When you are finished, if it does not ask you to restart your computer, do so anyway.
This may look a little complicated on 'paper', but it's not. You'll have no problem with this.
During this entire procedure, DO NOT have the Canon printer attached to your computer with the USB cable! The printer should be off, and unplugged from electricity. AFTER you have restarted your computer, plug the USB cable from the printer into your computer.
Plug the printer into power, (Electricity). Turn the printer on.
You should now see, "Found New Hardware", and then maybe, "Found Canon CP740"
