Re: Shattered Screen

Well, it depends I had that same problem but, it got it fixed for free since a friend fixed it. If you can't do that then look up a repair shop near you, then compare prices and I'm sure you'll get it fixed for a good. price

Re: Shattered Screen

Check for the used LCD screens on ebay. There's one there today for $50 plus shipping. Replacement requires a tear down of the top part of the unit. If you are adventuresome, but have never done this, it might take you around 2 hours, or so.

Screen cracked

You can open this up and replace it yourself with a small phillips head screw driver and a little patience. Your best deal for a replacement screen will most likely be from Ebay but you can order it from HP. You can replace just the screen or possibly get a whole top cover assembly on ebay. You'll need to pay attention for screws under covers that are not apparently covers and under some stickers on the bottom side of the computer. Also pay close attention to where screws come from as they very in length and in order to get the computer back together you'll want to get them back in to correct locations. If you don't feel you can do this replacement on your own my best recommendation would be to just buy a new laptop as a repair shop will most likely charge somewhere around $800 to do the job and a new PC can be purchased for about the same price. You can remove the hard drive from the current computer and install it in a new one allowing you to recover any files you may have saved on that drive. For that matter you could set up a dual boot option using a third party boot program to allow you to boot to either the new computer operating system or your old system if you wanted. It all depends on how much time you want to spend on the job or how much you want to spend. Good Luck.

The screen on my HP Pavilion dv 1000 is too dark. The probem extends 2/3's from the left and almost 1/4 of the screen from the left. It's becoming so bad I barely can read the screen. Thre problem seems to...

If turning up the brightness hasn't helped then the lcd is likely going to fail soon.

option 1: hook it up to an external monitor.
option 2: Look for a replacement lcd on e-bay
option 3: Get a new laptop

HP will charge a lot for the display if they even still stock it.

Hope this helps.

I have a hp pavilion tx2000 touch screen, and my screen got shattered, ironically it still has a visible screen, since the comp0uter got broken it hasnt ran right. I get screens that are not responding, no...

you can solve this problem in easy way:

if you have same disk which you have in your system installed then:
insert that disk (OS disk or recovery disk) dvd/cd drive
then go to start>Run then type in
"sfc /scannow" without quotes and hit enter
it takes couple of minutes to reset back your all settings and it does not deletes any files or folders which you have, it just updates as it was in first time.
once it done then reboot your system and you will be good to go.
Note: there is Space between "sfc and /" so if you don't hit space then it won't let you to go.

Thank you

Hp pavilion dv 1000 screen replacment

Dear lotaman, I have searched the world to find an exact guide for your monitor but it is impossible. Neveretheless I have found the following guides and they should be more than enough to complete the task in hand anytime.

TIP: The ZV5000 looks and is very similar to the HP DV1000 screen so I would start from there. All guides are very nicely explained.

Please remember to remove the battery before you do any work with the laptop.
