Look up the model unit and compare it to the models appear on countless Google search pages. I had a set that bought new after the introduction and what became a PR nighmare for Maytag as they tried to ignore the problem. I was unaware of any problems since there was never a recall just at the very end when they offered to take the nice looking front loader in exchange for a new regular top loader. Mistake number 2. My washer started to get a bad smell and being single and doing maybe three loads a week. Then the washer drum started retaining water, not inside, but surrounding. The only way I discovered is while cleaning I turned the drum. Depending on who you asked, even some Maytag salesmen as well as the folks at the big home improvement stores and it was said to be the "oil" that lubercates the drum, water that was needed to turn the drum and a couple referenced this whole manufacturing defeact that could not be fixed. I decided I would stick with the oil or water concept becasue it made sense. One evening, I Googled. I was sick. It would only get worse and to contact Maytag, was a joke. Instead of waiting for the day to come, I listed the dryer for sale with the washer free. I disclosed everything and I could have sold a100 sets. The lady who bought the set for $650 was putting it to a flip/rehab project. I hope you are not the one who bought her property -- she wasn't planning to go into detail with the future buyer,

Is there any kind of recall on a Maytay front loading washer, model #MAH6500AWW? I am having problems with mildew in the rubber part and terrible smelling water in the bottom.

The cleaning process for your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer, for example, requires some time and patience. Over time, your washing machine will need to be cleaned. It can develop offensive odors through multiple wash cycles. This makes the washing machine less effective at cleaning the clothes you put into it. Maytag offers some sound advice for cleaning your front-loading washing machine.
  • Pour 2/3 cup of liquid chlorine bleach into the bleach compartment of the dispenser drawer of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer.

  • 2

Run your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer on the "Clean Washer" setting. Press "Start" to start the cycle.

  • 3

Leave the door open once the cycle is complete to allow the inside of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer to ventilate and air dry.

  • 4

Look closely at the gray seal of the Maytag Neptune front-loading washer's door opening. This seal can have a buildup of debris or detergent residue.

  • 5

Spray the seal with an all-purpose appliance cleaner and scrub away any debris or residue with a cloth or scrubbing pad. Dry with a clean cloth.

  • 6

Remove the soap dispenser drawer. Press the release lever and lift it out to clean.

  • 7

Take out the inserts and rinse them and the drawer thoroughly.

  • 8

Wash with a mild soap and cloth to remove any residue. Dry thoroughly before replacing.

  • ALWAYS LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN WHEN NOT IN USE! This prevents the mold and mildew from forming once you get it cleaned.

After every wash the lent stays on the clothes

here are a few suggestions Two things that come to mind...1) Your wash time is too long. Unlike front loaders, top loaders clean quickly. No need to use the longest wash setting unless the item is really dirty.
    2) You are overloading the machine. Items should move freely and circulate from top-to-bottom several times during the wash.
    3) try using more detergent, One of the things good detergent does is keep lint (and dirt) suspended in the water and off your clothes. 4)
check that link for lint traps in washers

I have Maytag Neptune front loader washer. When

    Error LR means Locked Rotor.

Either the motor is faulty, there is a wiring problem, or the control assembly is faulty.

Try tripping the circuit breaker to reset the machine, if code comes back a technician must have a look at the motor.

Front loading Maytag Neptune doesnt drain all water

the washer has a low level of water in it at all times. it will never completely drain out unless you pump it. this is one of the reasons there is such a smell with these washers, i use vinegar in rinse cycle and i use bleach once sometimes twice a month to keep mold and mildew smell away.

    Kenmore Washing Machine-front loader

There is a small gap between the metal basket and the plastic tub. Small items - especially small socks and silky clothing can slip through to reach the pump. Wash these items in a mesh laundry bag.

This is a "normal" characteristic of all front load machines. Only a Maytag Neptune positively addresses this issue. They have a long, thin, fine brush between the basket and tub which consistently prevents this issue in their machines.
