That is a message from the PXE boot service telling you that you haven't got a network cable plugged in - it has happened because you no longer have a bootable disk and so it is trying to boot from a network. You can ignore it. The problem is with your hard disk. You will need to put an Operating System disk in the CD/DVD drive (XP, Vista) and boot that, then choose the recovery option. If you are not able to recover from disk, as your machine is only a few days old, it will need to go back to Acer for reapir. You will lose all your data.

99.5% of the time that you get this error message it will be the HDD. Either in the internal controller of the drive or in the MBR something has gone wrong. And yes it will affect your optic drives and the ability to get to the BIOS.

Just replaced the HDD and you will be able to jump right into the BIOS and will immeadiately saw the drive -- Load new OS and all is right with the world.

Hopfully, it will help you. Regards.

In IBM system X3550 M3 server pxe e61 media test failure check cable error is coming and when i mam trying to install OS Partition will not show. pls give me solution.

This sounds like you are asking two different questions. PXE booting would be the way you would begin installing or loading an operating system. "Media test failure" errors would indicate a lack of network connectivity on the network interface that you're trying to PXE boot from.

You go on to mention an OS partition not showing... So did you resolve the PXE media test failure issue?

Your question is unclear and unanswerable in it's current state. BE CLEAR, CONCISE AND SPECIFIC.

HI there,
The "Error" texts saying:
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
Are completely normal. This simply states that there is no external cables plugged into the specialty inputs on your toshiba laptop.

The "operating system not found" is stating that your existing hard drive is either A) dead or B) been erased.

Try to re-install your operating system, if it finds no hard drive, you'll need a new one!

If the sound you are referring to is a clicking sound, then it is a hard drive failure.
Your computer is trying to boot up the operating system from the hard drive, but when it fails to access the hard drive, it tries to boot up from other devices configured on the BIOS. Apparently, your next choice for booting the operating system is set to the LAN card. Hence, you get the message "PXE-E61 Media test failure", which means that the computer tried to boot up the operating system over the network but it found out that your network cable is not connected to your computer's network interface card.

Message saying media test failure, exiting pXE ROM and operating system not found. Cannot get anywhere thereafter. can get into F12 and F2 at startup,

Sounds like your hard drive died. If hard drive is dead you wont be able to get into anything but the bios. Hold down the CTRL key when computer starts and dont let go and try to force it into going into bios for you.

I have a nc6000 and the the message PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. comes up I can not boot my computer it states a disk read error occured can you help me. I have...

The PXE-E61 is the error code for No Network Bootable Device Found. Which means the computer cannot find your hard drive and is looking for a network drive to boot from. Either your internal hard drive has failed, or it is not seated or operating properly. Troubleshoot the hard drive, either it is dead or there is an interface problem between the drive and the motherboard or BIOS setting.

When turning my laptop on i get a message media test failure

You see this message when the laptop trying to boot from a remote server using the network card. If you didn’t see the PXE-E61 message before, it means that the network card was listed after the hard drive in the boot order (you can set the order in BIOS) and the laptop booted directly from the hard drive. Now, when the hard drive has failed, the laptop cannot detect it and tries to boot from the next available device – the network card. Your laptop is not configured to boot from a remote server using the network card, that’s why you are getting PXE-E61 Media test failure error. You have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

PXe-e61 media test failure on my packard bell desk top

Disable booting up to network device. If it cant find the HD then it will try the next device, which is usually the network device. If it says No Operating System Found, then there is a problem with your HD and you will need either replace, repair, or restore.

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

check your harddrive, is it detected in bios ?
if no, it could be motherboard or hdd, but most of the time is hdd problem, so just replace it.
if yes, your operating system is corrupt, so you can reload your operating system.

Not always the Hard drive, boot into the bios setup utility and de-select network bootfrom the boot options. If it tries to network boot first you will always get that failure.
