I have a Humax RM-105U and when I turned the TV on last night a very wide black and red line was down the left hand side of the screen. When I just have the TV on without the HUMAX this is not there.

Unfortunately, chances of it being a panel issue are high, about 99% and a new panel wouldn't be available, and if it was it would run as much as a new tv

Note that this type of device is designed to be left on at all times, so should not be switched off each night. I suspect that it has some slight corruption in the user-settings, so a factory reset may be required.

the problem is the panel is going bad. usually not economical to repair. repair usually runs as much as a new one.

black strip down the right side its about 2 inches wide there are also red and green flashing lights that is defective shorted capacitor at power inverter board section that was 300uf 200volts.

Line faults & possible causes to LCD & Plasma screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent. Faults to all LCD & Plasma screen are similar, irrespective of its brand and screen size..

My Hitachi TV Flat screen 42 EDT 4 1A has a one inch black line from the top to the bottom of the
screen on the left side. What or how do I fix it. I did blow it out with a air compressor as suggested by a local repairman.

I guess I have to pay money for a solution, which is not what this website says. The only answer I got was pay money and we'll tell you. Is that true/

I'm not an expert, but I have determined that the vertical bars that are often red, sometimes blue ... and sometimes both ... are related to a bad control board. I've also read that a common fix is to buy a repair kit with includes the ysus, zsus and control boards ... all replaced together. My experience was that after a month or two with the 1.5" wide stripes, that you eventually loose the entire picture and have sound only. MIne comes back, but won't stay working for very long and the stripes are always there (buy used to fade and flicker sometimes). I'm planning on replacing the control board.

Intermittant convergence alignment issues are quite common.
Either solder the convergence IC pins or better yet , change out
the IC's with first quality OEM spec or upgrade..............T.
