Question about Bose?® Acoustimass?® 10 Series IV home entertainment speaker system - Black Speaker

Front Speaker not working

Hi I just inherited a Bose Acoutimass 10 Series IV and have set it up based on the instruction given in the manual. It sounds great but somehow nothing is coming out from the front speakers. Although it sounds great in movies, i would have thought the front speakers should work when I am playing music CD.

Is this normal or have i got a wrong setting or need to set the receiver? I am using a Yamaha receiver with the Bose System.

Appreciate your help and assistance on this

HOW CAN I CONECT THE BOSE TO MY YAMAHA AMP THE ONLY WAY TO CONECT THE BOSE IS TO BANANA INPUTS ON MY AMP AND THEY ARE FRONT SPEAKERS BUT THE AMP HAS A SUB OUTPUT

To enable the full potential of a SUB for Yamaha DSP A5 ,

you need to have

a separate amplifier for your Bose Acoustimass System.

The SUB out should be connected to an active subwoofer.

I have recently aquired bose 520b acoutimass panray base module. can this be connected and work with my 2 pairs of bose 901's.i use pioneer SPEC 1 & SPEC 4{ power amp/pre amp}

Don't you mean "502B"?

Specs:
http://pro.bose.com/pdf/pro/brochures/panaray_502_b/b_panaray_502.pdf

http://pro.bose.com/ProController?url=/pro/products/panaray/panaray502b.jsp

http://pro.bose.com/pdf/pro/manuals/panaray_502_b/ig_panaray_502b.pdf

Why do they call the SPEC-1 a PREamp when it seems to be an INTEGRATED AMP with speaker outputs and all?

http://sportsbil.com/stereo/spec/

I'm going to assume one of the numbered, presumably volume-controlled outputs (1,2) goes to the 901 Active Equalizer and on to the SPEC-4.

The OTHER numbered output could feed the missing Panaray Digital Controller and then, presumably, another amp but like many a 901 owner I've heard of, you COULD skip that part for the 502b and hook them to the unmodifed amps available in the SPEC-1 and see how it works out.

Is the subwoofer from the Bose acoustimass 10 series IV Home Entertainment Speaker System a power sub?

The entire speaker system is passive. That is, it requires amplification for each channel.

From the manual: "Compatible with A/V receivers rated from 10 to 200 watts per front channel and 10 to 100 watts per rear channel; rated from 4 to 8 ohms".

Which model of amplifier will match the Bose AM 10 series4

There's a pretty decent write up for this speaker system on CNet. The "Speaker System" section calls for an amplifier capable of 10 - 150 watts RMS.

Bose maintains a library on their products as well. You can download FAQs, Manuals and Product Information easily. On the accessories tab, Bose lists an Onkyo receiver for $350 that will work very well with this speaker system. Of course, any quality modern stereo receiver or amplifier with power in this range 10 - 150 watts should provide good results, but better amps will be in the 75 watts and greater range.

I hope this helps - good luck

Bose 301 speaker fell off bookshelf. Still works,

Determine the series from the label on the back and get yourself one or a pair (preferred, so they match sonically) of new woofers and replace the broken one. Carefully observe the + and - leads and replicate them on the replacements.

Sometimes you can snag a pair of whole speakers cheaply, too. Then you might end up with one spare 301 and one for parts. I use a single 301 IV as my Rear Surround, suspended on the wall behind my seating position. They also do well as Center speakers. The Series IV is also made of some kind of plastic composite which is bullet-prrof compared to the previous particle board models. I had one hit the floor from 5 feet up and it doesn't have a scratch. Get familiar with the models as they are all different in their tweeter arrangements. For example, the IV's are designed for corner placement with one tweeter facing inward at 45 degrees and one on the opposite diagonal corner of the box facing 180 degrees opposite the front tweeter, into the corner for a bank shot.

Do all speakers need to have the same impedance? (Protect mode)

Amplifiers sometimes like to have "balanced loads" on them, and this may be the case with your unit, meaning yes, all the impedances should match.

Judging by the impedance numbers you provided, you should be all set. You really want to avoid having something like 2 ohms on the left side and 8 ohms on the right side - grossly imbalanced. I don't see any problems with what you're going to run.
