Get a new cable if everything else works that is your problem
Usually, unplugging, replugging it and then rebooting solves the problem.

your other options are a driver issue..either with the ipod drivers, itunes, or the USB drivers for your computer itself. since your ipod video and psp work fine, you can rule out USB drivers, but that doesn't rule out additional driver problems.

the other option is there's some kind of failure with your ipod..and sometimes if a device starts drawing power before doing any kind of communication with the computer (like when my rockbox-hacked ipod goes into charge only mode) then windows will assume there's a hardwire issue. the best way to determine if it's an issue with your ipods are take them to another computer and see if they work. if they work fine...try uninstalling and reinstalling itunes (back up your music and database) and see if that solves the problem. if none of that solves it and you know the ipod shuffles are good..then your system has suffered from the mysterious driver failure that's plagued a lot of systems. and generally the only real solution is to reinstall windows from scratch.

How to Play iTunes AudioBooks on Amazon Kindle Fire

If you like to buy audiobooks from iTunes store, you should know that the iTunes audiobooks are DRM protected and can't be played on android devices or any other Non-Apple devices. However, some useful 3rd party apps can help you out, like TunesKit AudioBook Converter.

In this article, I want to share my experience of how to add my purchased iTunes audiobooks to Amazon Kindle Fire hd.

Step 1. Download and Install TunesKit AudioBook Converter.

Windows version:
Mac version:

Step 2. Add iTunes audiobooks to TunesKit

The iTunes audiobooks are encoded as M4A/M4B format. Click "Add Files" button, then you can import iTunes M4A or M4B audiobook files to TunesKit from iTunes library.

Step 3. Choose output format as MP3

Click "gear" icon next to the audiobook file name, then you are allowed to choose output format as MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, WMA, FLAC. Of course, MP3 format is the best choice for Amazon Kindle Fire.

Step 4. Start to convert iTunes audiobooks to Kindle Fire HD.

Click "Convert" button to start converting iTunes audiobooks to unprotected MP3 format. After conversion finished, then you are free to put the MP3 files to Kindle fire and play these audiobooks on Kindle fire successfully.

I have an AA file that I downloaded from, it's a book. When I try to sync it to the Sony Walkman from Windows Media Play, I get an error. The error says "Windows Media Player cannot sync...

The "AA" file type is not supported in the NWZ MP3 players. However, you are still able to place audiobooks onto your player if you convert the file to one of the supported file audio formats: MP3. WMA, AAC-LC, and PCM. Remember that there are several iterations of MP3, such as variable bit rate and frequency range and the player does not play some of them.

What I do is that I pull the file into Audacity and convert it there. Another option is that if you can burn the audiobook onto a CD, you can then rip to WMP and then sync it to your player. That is how I get my language audiobooks onto my player. The last option, which I have never tried, is to get it into ITunes, then sync it to your player that way. ITunes will automatically convert the file before syncing it onto the player.

Hope that helps.

Audiobook to ipod

That is the problem. iTunes will only allow you to put audiobooks in that section if they were bought from the iTunes store. It's very annoying, but i suggest just making a playlist to hold all the files. iTunes doesn't let you set the type as "Audiobook" for files.

Audiobooks has disappeared from menu

The easiest solution would be to plug in your ipod and click on your ipod in your itunes library. By doing so you should be on your contents tab. Click on the settings tab and then click on restore. This should add restore all your defaults on your ipod. Before you do all this; make sure you back up your podcast if you don't currently have them in your itunes library. If this was helpful to you in anyway please leave a comment and a good rate. Thank you!

Playing Songs, Audiobooks, and Podcasts on iPod shuffle iPod shuffle allows you to play your audio files in a couple different ways—you can play songs, audiobooks, and podcasts in the order in which they appear on your player, or let iPod shuffle work its namesake magic for you (that is, shuffle the files by playing them randomly).
Show Me How
If you want iPod shuffle to play audio files in the order in which they appear on the player, move the switch on the top of the iPod shuffle to the play in order (circular arrows) position. If you want iPod shuffle to play songs in random order, move the switch to the shuffle (crossed arrows) position.
ip02_playfnky_04_shuflebutton.gif This iPod Shuffle is set to shuffle.
To play music, an audiobook, or podcast, just press the Play/Pause button. To skip to the next song (or a different song if you're in shuffle mode, or a different chapter if you're listening to an audiobook or podcast), press the Next/Fast-forward button. To fast-forward through the audio, hold down the Next/Fast-forward button. To go back to the beginning of a song (or the previous chapter), press the Previous/Rewind button; press this button twice to go to the previous song or hold it down to rewind through the file.
To stop play, press the Play/Pause button during play. To turn off iPod shuffle, move the switch to the Off position (you shouldn't see green beneath the switch).
