Most likely the HP Director needs to be updated, especially if you have upgraded Internet Explorer, whether you knew it upgraded or not, it does not play well with IE. Go to the link below, put in your operating system and look through all the updates for the HP director, especially the patches that are needed for this program to work correctly.

Hp image director will not open i deleted the software for hp 2210 printer and reinstalled the program, this was done two times

below is a link for the patch for the image director software. This is mainly for Windows XP and after you have upgraded Internet Explorer. Any revision to internet explorer after IE6 needs this patch for the director to work.

Go to and install the latest driver for your printer the check the following: HP introduced HP Solution Center to replace HP Director in 2004. While HP continues to support HP Director on products used in Windows XP and 2000 operating systems, HP Director is not compatible with Windows Vista. If you recently upgraded to Windows Vista, you will not be able to use HP Director. However, you might be able to upgrade to HP Solution Center in its place. Follow these steps to download and install the full software solution, which includes HP Solution Center. NOTE: This solution is not available for all products.

HP 9110 all in one's scanner will not work

I have a 9110 and a laptop running Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7. Prior to upgrading the IE from 6 to 7, I was able to run the HP Director and fax, scan, whatever from the laptop. After upgrading to IE 7, HP Director quit working. I contacted both Microsoft and HP and they pointed fingers at each other and said yes, upgrading to IE 7 broke the HP Director. Both said fixes were being developed, but that was months ago and I have not heard of any fixes.
I did find a workaround that allowed me to scan documents to the PC (faxing worked fine manually). Assuming the 9110 all-on-one’s drivers are still on the PC, and that the PC is connected to the 9110, go to “start, settings, control panel” and once in control panel, select “scanners and cameras”. If the drivers are still there, you should see the HP 9110 under “device”. Highlight the HP 9110 and double click. A wizard should start and it will guide you through the scanning process. If the 9110 does not appear in the “scanners and camera” box, you will need your 9110 CD and click on “add an imaging device”, which will start another wizard. It’s not as easy as using HP Director, but at least I can use the scanner. Hope this works for you.
