I looked in more than one locations ...and all over I found something like this...even if it has great features for it's class ..it only has 2 slots of DDR mem and the max you can put probably are 1 G in one slot if it supports...but I sow that most of them are equipped with 512M Ram on 400 mhz (3200)..so ..I think you can upgrade the memory ..but never on DDr2 ..

ok...this is another situation ....if you have 4 of them ...nore than sure 2 are on ddr and 2 on ddr2 ...see that they are on colors( different ) ...and ussually it is written beside which one is which ....also if you have the original manual ...take a look to see what supports and in what frequency's cause ...ussually elder ones ...like I have a 4 slots one ...supports only one kind of memory at the time ...and only on 533mhz ...and all they manufacture these days are on 800mhz ..but ya can still find on 533 second hand or in some stores that has in stock
So...! if you have on DDr now...take a look on the slots color and put the ddr2 in the other slot...( different color) anyway ddr and ddr2 units dont fit but in the right slot...dont forget to remove the bios batery to restore the factory bios defaults ..cause your system will not recognize the new kind and won't boot ...if ya have any other questions ask...maybe I forget some issues...

I read what the other guy said ...and he also might be right ..even if there are 4 of them ..but they are the same color...they can be all on DDR (4of a kind) and it will support up to 1G on 400mhz in each one ...
Take care and good Luck !

I can't recognize what specific RAM this motherboard accepts..

Dear sir,

In reply to your post- Generally now a days we use DDR400 RAM(DDR 1) for this type of motherboard. So DDR 400 RAM is More compatible then other RAM,you can use this RAM for your motherboard to obtain good performance.

PC Motherboard Memory upgrade

From Asus tech: Memory 3 184-pin DIMM slots for PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM
Supports up to 2GB memory
No ECC supportThis is only compatible RAM so make sure your new chip is PC1600 or PC2100. If you mis the 2 it the faster RAM will run at the slower chip speed. Hope this helps.

ASUS A8N-SLI memory issues

imondeau, do you still have you're manual for the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium? Please turn to page 2-12 & 2-13.
Need the manual? Click the link below & download it.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=A8N-SLI%20Premium&SLanguage=en-us
The QVL; Qualified Venders List, shows all the tested memory for this board. Edge memory is not supported. This is why the Edge memory only runs by it's self. Once you add the corsair memory they clash because they are not compatible working together in this Asus board. Both sets of memory could work in another board. (Maybe)! What is also needed is if the corsair & edge DIMMs are SS = Single sided or DS = Double sided. How many chips on the corsair? How many chips on the Edge?
They must have the same total chips each each DIMM.

Edge does not sell memory compatible for the
Asus A8N-SLI Premium.
See this for you're self. Click on this link:

Ddr and ddr2

You cannot use DDR2 since your mother will only support DDR1 which is DDR400 compatible only.

Please don't rate me Inappropriate if you don't like my solution or rate me SOLVED if you accept the reality. Thanks
