Maybe you have dirty lens. And the drive insist in accessing the cd. And almost everything is diverted on reading the drive first. This also happens.

Hello there:
here are a couple of things that will make this happen.
(1). when the device was installed all of the drivers were not installed from the cd rom disk if it was used
(2). if you plug in the power cable that is also using a nother device in series ie cd rom or hdd.
(3). the device has a master /slave jumper that is not set right.
(4).the flat ribbon that is connected to the device is not properly connected Ie red strip to pin 1.
i would go through and double check everything i have stated in the above and i would unplug any thing that this device may be in series with and try it and see if this work's than you will know where to start. ok hope that this kind of gives you some kind of an idea of where to start. please keep me posted i can do a step by step walk through with you if needed
best regards mike
best regards

reinstall the device

Control panel - find mouse/touchpad icon and try a reset of the functions. If all else fails and you can back everything up, a clean re-install of Windows should solve it. If that doesn't work, it's a hardware problem - return to Sony or a qualified engineer

Laptop freezes

What you may want to try is remove the battery and reinsert or replace battery. Toshiba computers have been known to run slowly occasionally. Maybe you have an update which your Windows service or your laptop disagrees with. If so uninstall or get proffesional help. If all else fails place laptop on floor and jump as high as you can. Make sure you land on the laptop.

My Plexwriter 52/24/52A will not work with Windows 7. The software will not work with Windows 7.

You might need to install the drivers for it since Windows 7 cannot find the correct drivers.

Usually the problems is with your Operating System, if you are sure that your RAM and other hardware are OK, then it must be your OS. It could also be that your system is infected with virus, so I recommend to reformat your disk and install a fresh Windows.

If after reformatting the problem still occur, check the RAM and Processor try swapping other memory in your computer, let's see if it solve the problem.

Hope I was able to help.

Laptop no longer functions past blue acer aspire screen

Are youable to move your mouse pinter, it sounds like it's freezing on logon prompt, or if youhave only 1 user at your desktop. either way if you canreboot into safe mode by pressing f8 as it bootsup, then if you have some antispyware program run it. if you cant get into safemode, take the HDD out of your computer and scan it on another Pc that has an upto date virus/antipsyware program.

Failing that from safe mode again, modify the startup entries from the registry using "regedit" and remove anythign that looks dodgy.

If that doesnt work, you can run a repair install of windows, but for this you need to disc used to install the OS. this is LAST RESORT of nothing else works, and i would not reccomend doing this if you are not familiar with installing operating systems, as if you choose the wrong option it may wipe your pc.

try simpler options first. antispyware is most probable cause.

My pc freezes :(

Hi redjeans21,
There can be a verity of reasons that can cause you to loose display. I'll list some suggestions you can try that may fix this issue. After each suggestion try the game that freezes the system more often than the others. (If you have never cleaned the inside of your system please do so). Use canned air & blow out the guts of the motherboard & power supply).
First, please make sure your antivirus software is up to date & run a full system scan. If you need a virus scanner you can download & install AVG for free at this link. Once you are sure your system is clean let’s run a test on your system memory. Click on the link below to download memtest86 software.
Scroll down the page until you see three monitor snap shots. Download either. (Suggest the floppy software which is the easiest to use). For bootable floppy disk test software download, (Download - Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win). To create bootable CD test software, (Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip). Boot your system with either disk, floppy or CD & test your memory. You'll know if there is a problem & you'll know what you need to do. (Let’s hope its ok).
The integrated VGA video card is not the greatest for playing games. The reason it is not is because the onboard video uses your system memory to function. Part of your 512MB of system memory goes to your video card & windows XP needs all of the 512MB. It's suggested that an XP system run with 1GB. 512MB is still ok. System freezes are more likely caused by software, including registry errors. Download & run this free registry cleaner.
Restart your system after the cleaner has finished. Next try running windows check disk. Right click once on My Computer & slide to & left click Open. Right click on C: & slide to & left click Properties.
Left click the Tools tab & than click, Check Now... for Error-checking. Your system will restart & run check disk. Lastly, buy an AGP graphics card & disable the onboard video. The MSI KM4M-L motherboard can only run an AGP card that supports 1.5 volts. This link is a 1.5v AGP card:
The card above comes with a 2 year warranty.
More AGP's:

If nothing above has helped or fixed the freezing issue, I would do a fresh install of windows, including a format of the hard disk drive.

Good luck redjeans21!

E machine t 2958 starts but will not run

Hi wt50, odds are there is a program in your system that for what ever reason is not loading correctly, hence you're mouse or windows is not functioning correctly. (When windows hour glass shows up that means a program & or files are loading).
I am betting you can still use you're keyboard to move around. Suggest you run windows system restore. To get around in windows using you're keyboard only. Open this link from Microsoft; Help with using the keyboard instead of the mouse while in windows XP, if needed. Windows system restore is located in, Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore. Take windows back to a time it was loading ok. You can also try pressing the F5 key every two seconds as your system starts up. This will prompt windows to load; Windows Advanced Option Menu. Once this opens, use you're up & down arrow keys to high-light, Last known good configuration (your most recent setting that worked). Than press the enter key. Tip: if you're current antivirus software came on a CD you might be able to boot to that CD & run a scan on you're boot files. If not you can always go to this link;
This is free. Download AVG than run the software. As far as the AT&T window opening & showing nothing, that’s a call to AT&T but I suggest you try the above suggestions first. Make the call to AT&T if the support window continues to open. Chances are they'll want you to re-install the software. Lastly rule of thumb, if you installed some other software recently & afterwards you're system started to screw up, than try to uninstall that software through Add/Remove programs.

Good luck wt50!
There is always more than one way to fix windows.
