Question about Canon PIXMA MP610 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer does not recognize a cartridge

My problem is with a Canon MP610.
I have fitted some "aftermarket" cartridges and transferred the chips as instructed.
I have successfully done this exercise before but have forgotten/lost the instructions on how to rest and get rid of the message "U150 The followinf ink tank cannot be recognized"
I followed another person's instructions as shown below, but this did not work either.
•Turn off the canon printer
•Hold the Resume Button (red circle in the triangle), add a printer (click “Power”) an indicator light green.
•Hold the Power Button, release the Resume Button.•Not releasing the Power Button, double click “Resume” and release Both Buttons.
•Click “Resume” for Four times
•Once you click “Power”, to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber). To disable the printer “Power” button to click again.
I managed to get into the service condition, but could only toggle between Service and Idle
Can you help, please

OK, delete all other printers that you might have on you printer/fax/camera programs. Turn it off and let it rest for a couple of minutes, then turn everything back on....computer, monitor, printer...etc.
Look at the bottom, of course you know this, and see the "new hardware message...if it isn't there, I have failed you. Good luck.

Hi their My MP530 printer reads CHECK CARTRIDGE U052, the manual does not help, can anyone help me please?

The dreaded U052 error means that the 'chip' fitted to the Cartridge is not responding .. Canon (like all printer mfgs) makes all it's profit from selling Ink .. so they fit these chips to try to prevent you refilling or using a 'compatible' replacement cartridge

You have to move the chip from the Canon cartridge to the 'compatible' and (it seems) the chips are particularly sensitive to static / damage .. many people end up blowing the chips during the swap over .. or even when fitting the original genuine cartridges to a brand new unit for the first time ...

If the unit is brand new, take it back and demand a replacement ... if you have just swapped over the chip onto a compatible cartridge, you can try buying a genuine Canon cartridge (which will have a new chip) = hopefully that will do the trick

MP610 does not recognize ink tank . This keeps happening even after restting the tank (tank is full). Initially, I could lift the tank up and reseat it and it would resolve the problem...not anymore. I...

Every now and then we get a defective cartridge, and Canon will replace it. If it's generic or refilled, you just need a new one. It's a cartridge problem, not a printer problem

Cartridge cannot be recognizedin mp180

what happens is the counter is stores on the cartridge chip so the chip still thinks they are empty. The only way to get round this is to put orginal canon cartridge in the machine or swap over the chip from a working one.

Just to let you know refills are cheap and easier but they can cause more damage then you see inside the machine such as printhead and purge unit.

If you change the cartridges with new chips it will then work

hope this helps

Because these a refills inks the Chip things they are full so you must replace the cartridge with a new Canon one and the fault will go. If not just replace the chip with a new one!

What is a chip resetter?

John, the chip resetter usually will not work on a faulty chip. You could make sure that the chip is aligned on the cartridge and connecting properly in the printer but it will generally be an electronic problem inside the chip itself. You will most probably need a new cartridge OR replace the faulty chip with the one off an old empty cartridge of the same colour, and then reset it using a "chip resetter" device.

Ink cartridge

You basically got scammed on that purchase. The important detail they didn't tell you was that the chips need to be reset on these cartridges. By resetting the chip you are telling the printer it has a full cartridge. Once the chip thinks the cartridge is empty it will cease to print. That's why you got the cartridge to print some and then it quit. You don't necessarily have to buy original Canon cartridges, but you do need to make sure you are buying refills with reset chips. I recommend Cartridge World for refills. I would stay away from internet sellers because they pull stuff like this on you and give you terrible ink.
