I have a Spectrafire Electric Fireplace and am getting an E3 error code. The fireplace turns on but within ten seconds I get that code.

The power to the heater can be disengaged to prevent the heater from being accidentally or unintentionally powered on. This feature is primarily added to help prevent children from powering on the heater when it is not desired. • To engage the heater override function press and hold the HEATER ICON for 10 seconds. The symbol E3 will display and then go blank while beeping 3 times. The heater function is now locked. If the HEATER ICON is pressed again E3 will appear then fade. The Flame, Downlight and Timer functions will operate normally. Only the heater and blower are disengaged. • To unlock the heater function, press and hold the HEATER ICON for 10 seconds. The symbol E3 will display and then go blank while beeping 3 times. The heater function is now engaged.

Surge Protection

Here is a few tips to look for in a good surge protector:

1. Response time should be less than 1 nanosecond.

2. Energy absorption/dissipation should be at a rating of 600 joules or more.

3. Clamping voltage should be 330 V to 400 V. Generally, a clamping voltage more than 400 V is too high.

4. Get one with a an indicator light that tells you if the protection components are functioning. All MOVs (Metal oxide varistors (MOV) are semiconductors that protect electronic components and systems from transient voltages) will burn out after repeated power surges, but the protector will still function as a power strip. Without an indicator light, you have no way of knowing if your protector is still functioning properly.

5. Get one that has self test function. A button you push to test it.

Power window won't roll up on auto

If window will not roll up it can be caused by a problem with the mechanism, no power getting to motor, bad switch, bad motor, fuse issue.

My hedge trimmer has a faulty switch

Hi Bob:
First, make sure the power supply cord is connected with power at the tool.
Since it's already broke, you really can't hurt it so you get to play if you're into it.
Disconnect from power supply!
Try to determine if something is stopping the switch from moving far enough to function.
Dismantle until you can get the switch out. Try to clean the switch terminals and check the function with a continuity meter.
If you can't get it to work, see your local dealer about getting a replacement part.

I have replace the blower switch pigtail rerister still no blower working could it be the relay if it is where is it ? the blower motor and relay are the only two things left to change need help thanks

Do you have power to the blower motor?

With everything connected there should be power on both wires going to the blower motor. If there is no power than remove the blower motor relay in the fuse block under the hood. There should be power at two of the pins and two of the pins should be grounded. One pin is powered by the 50 amp Blower fuse and the other gets its power from the function selector (the switch that controls where the air comes out.

If only one pin has power than pull the 50amp blower fuse If power goes away than you know that the relay is not recieving power from the function selector. That is powered by a 15 amp fuse in the cetral fuse block (under the dash i think). If that fuse is good than check for power at the pink with black wire at the function switch. If there is power there tan check for power at the yellow with red wire and the function switch. If there is no power than you have a bad function switch.

This is a ground side controlled blower motor. The speed switch controls the path to ground. so if there is power to the blower motor on the orange with red wire you can ground the orange with black wire at the blower motor and it should run.

That should be enough info to get you started. Let me know what you find and I'll be happy to help further.

My cannon iR3320 displays error code E000002-0000. the problem started today after yesterday's power surge

Most likely an error reset will take care of the problem. Get into service mode by pressing the additional function key, 2 & 8 key at the same time, then additional function key again. Press copier, function ( at top of display ), CLEAR, ERR then OK. Power down and back up again the copier. If error continues then the fixing film assembly will have to be replaced.

My tv goes off by itself, after a while it comes back on. two days ago it went off and i cant get it back on

There is an IC in the TV that controls all functions; power on\off, volume, menu functions, etc.

When this IC losses power it will turn off the TV.

When this IC regains power it will restore the TV to the last Known condtion before the power was lost (OFF or ON)

It is possible that this IC is defective and has intermmitant power or functionality. This would result in this intermittant off and on and why you cannot power it on suddenly.

Also, be aware if the outlet that the TV is connected to losses power you could get this symptom (same if the outlet has a loose connection with the TV power cord)

overall point is:
1. Ensure the wall outlet is in good condition and the TV
2. the TV power supply could have some issue
3. if not 1 and 2, the TVs main board may be defective.
