Question about Frigidaire FAP094P1Z Portable Air Conditioner

1 Answer

My Mother received a used Frigidaire Air Conditioner Model #FAP094P1Z2, from my son, but it has no book of instructions with it. Because of 2 moves, the book cannot be found. Anyway, my Mom has a lot of water coming out of a pipe, that sticks out from the bottom in the back of the unit, and it is not connected to the pipe that goes out the window. She told me it looks like the pipe should have a cap on it, but it is open and that is where the water is coming from. Should it have some sort of cap over the end of it? I was reading some of the other problems, and there was a mention of a bucket light. Would this model have such a thing as well as a bucket that may need an occasional emptying? We do not have a high humidity in our area, so I don't know if that would need to be something we need to check on. Any help you can give us would be great. Thank you - Mary

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The evaporator coils on the front of the a/c produce water which normally travels through the drain system to the back of the unit where the water is evaporated or drained out. However, the water is not getting evaporated and is draining continuously. This can be due to excessive moisture conditions or over-running the A/c. Clean the A/c filter and check for defrost heater’s connection. Also clean the condenser coils to increase A/c’s efficiency.

This link would be helpful in explaning the parts and other details--

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Error F8 on a Frigidaire AC model FASE24C6****

Good Afternoon Konrad,

I understand that you are receiving an F8 error code on your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FASE24C6. I also see that it will work for hours before displaying F8 or sometimes only minutes before displaying the error code. The F8 tells me that there might be a key stuck. I suggest resetting your air conditioner, by unplugging it for 3-5 minutes. Plug your appliance back in and start any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your air conditioner status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

How do I reset the e1 on the A/C

I have a sharp and I don't know what model you have but you may check the manufacturers web site for a instruction book

but on my unit you have to do the following

1. Power down the air conditioner using the "power" button on the front
panel.
2. Unplug the air conditioner from the wall socket.
3. Hold the front panel "power" button down and plug the air
conditioner in. Continue to hold the power button down as the machine
goes through a brief test sequence (fan & compressor each come on
briefly, etc). There is a "beep" sound at the end of the test sequence,
and the machine will be off. At this point, you can release the power
button.
4. Unplug the air conditioner.
5. Plug the air conditioner back in.
6. Congratulations! You should now be able to operate the air
conditioner normally for another 720 hours, but only if you followed
the instructions above EXACTLY.

after following this procedure to clear the nefarious E1 indication, you should obtain
another 720 hours of cooling bliss

My son's landlord brought out a new Frigidaire 12,000 B.T.U. room air conditioner. He,(my son) plugged it in and the unit made a popping sound with a flash of light, followed by the smell of burnt plastic!...

hi,

possibly sounds like a household wiring issue, if the unit was brand new and somehow got your 120 volt air conditioner hooked up to 220, that would cause that. You may have to ask some questions about who wired that plug that the air conditioner plugs into. It could be the other way around as well is the air conditioner 220 volts and the plug 120? Have someone check the voltage coming out of the plug. the voltage for the air condtioner and the wall MUST match. If its 220, that was your problem and your air condioner will need extensive service/replace. If it isnt, and the air conditioner was subjected to the lower voltage , it could have caused that as well and the circuit board fried, but hopefully the major components are okay check to see if your wall voltage and your air conditioner voltages are the same, they have to be, your unit will need service either way but hopefully the latter which is cheaper, and call a licensed electrician to check out that plug.
