Question about Krups XP7230 Compact Super Automatic Espresso Machine

1 Answer

My Krups coffee maker is leaking some coffee onto the counter. The fluid is coming from above and behind where the coffee normally should be coming out. Any easy fixes or do I have to send it in?

It might be worn o-rings on the cylinder head for compressing the coffee grinds. Take off the top panel and release the cylinder. it should be possible to take it out. Replace the o-rings. May also be an idea to remove the front and side panels so you can clean out the coffee in the bottom.

There are many possible points that the leak can be.

All points of the water supply from water tank to the pressure pump then to boiler and finally to coffee group. All this are connected together with plastic or Teflon pipes with easy fit unions secure with clips

You need to disassemble the machine and work it without the side panels of course with extra care since power electrical cables are exposed.

In this way with a very good visual check while the machine is in operation you can identify the leaking point and fix it.

Krups kp 2000 water leak

I had the same thing happen. It turned out that the rubber hose connecting the water reservoir to the heating element had disconnected, probably due to grinding vibration. I found a triangular screw driver to open the coffee maker up at MicroCenter: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0332974
After removing the bottom of the coffee maker, the repair took 1 minute and it is brewing coffee again like new!

Coffee leaking onto to counter top

I've worked on that problem on a X9, I am not sure if the coffee/milk spout is the same but, I had to dismantle the spout and clean inserts, I also had to replace the o-rings on the spouts.

if the water is leaking from the back left side of the unit then the seal/valve to the expresso water container is lose and leaking. you can either go the warranty route or open the back up and tighten the two screws holding the seat/valve in place.

The coffee holder is just hanging in place, not secure against the seal as it should be. Make sure the coffee holder is secured flat up against the seal before turning the handle and locking it into place.
