Question about Garmin Nuvi 350 Car GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Nuvi touchscreen dead

Garmin Nuvi 360 touchscreen inoperative.
There was no sign of a problem but then one morning the touchscreen was totally unresponsive. At one point it was acting uncalibrated: a touch at the bottom of the screen would have an effect as though I had touched the middle, etc. But mostly my touches had no effect. I could not go to settings>display because touch wasn't working! I read iin a forum here about holding the power button down until the calibrate screen appears. This also didn't work. It displayed "pre-boot mode" then "booting" then "loader" and "software loading" followed by a brief period of visual static and then started over with "pre-boot mode" and so on. I definitely did not let up on the power button - I redid this numerous times to be sure.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for the suggestion. It didn't work for me. I tried it twice, once just pressing and releasing the power button while maintaining pressure on the top right corner, and again pressing and holding the power button while maintaining pressure in the top right corner. In each case the pressure in the top right corner had no effect, the power-on sequence occurred the same as if I had not touched the screen. Does this mean that the touch screen has an electromechanical defect?

Did not help - turning the device on with constant pressure in the upper right corner of the screen produced exectly the same power-up sequence as turning the device on without touching the screen. Should I conclude that there's an electromechanical defect preventing the screen from sensing any touch?

Garmen went totally dead

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

My GARMIN stop working I plug it to my car socket and it would not come on.

Same, it worked in the morning, then after lunch, it would not come on. Totally dead. I check the cable and it is working. I have a backup cable too so I know it isn't the cable.
