Question about Intex Easy Set 2500 Gph Filter Swimming Pool Pump

Sandy element settling on bottom of pool

Not a whole lot of use so I know that whatever is settling is not sand or dirt. I filled my pool with well water, got that nightmare under control...I think. I was wondering if it could be the chlorine tablets or at least some of it because it has a dark color to it. Filter cartridge still comes out orange when I change it every couple of days but nothing near what it was like. Could it still be metals settling from all the chemicals I used? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks a bunch!

You should take a water sampel to you pool store to ck, they will do this for free and can tell you what your water needs. It sounds a lot like an alge problem Even if you had one and fixed it you can have more than one kind of alge. If you have a sand filter youcould have a problem in this also. If you tie an old stocking around your return at the wall of the pool this will tell you if the filter is passing anything.

Sand in the pool and lots of dirt on bottom, right after vacumned

I suspect you have a hole in the filter, or an o-ring or a gasket in the filter area that has failed.
Take the whole filter assembly apart and you should be finding the problem.
Since you may not see it with your eyes, perhaps you will need new parts, because the problem is only happening when the whole thing is assembled and the pump is running.
God bless your efforts.

When we had the house inspected, (June 2015) the spa ran fine/clean. We ran the spa for the first time today (13 Nov) and dirt came out of the jets. Is there some maintenance we should do?

Being the first day that you ran it, I wouldnt jump to anything to soon. First check to see if its dirt, algae or sand. Dirt could just be from the water settling and not being run/cleaned enough, worse case scenario filter problems. Algae would just be a lack of running the pump and a lack of/imbalanced chem. Sand could be that they just changed the filter sand and its removing the excess and settling, or that you have a broken lateral. Give it a week or two unless you see like jets of sand/algae/dirt lol. After that if you still having a problem repost with whats coming out of jet, how much, and equipment/chemicals used.

How much sand do you use.

Sand for sand filters must be NSF certified for use in pools... this is very fine grained sand and fairly uniform in consistency. Pressure sand filters are fully enclosed and require filling. Gravity sand filters require headspace and a vent to allow air in so the water will flow. Bear in mind, sand will settle in use so when you remove the old sand, it may appear it wasn't full in a pressure pump type system.

My simpson esprit 450 washes dirt/sand into the tub - how can I clean the

Hi just read your posting. The only way you can assess the tank is to remove the inner bowl. This is quite difficult.I can help you with removing the inner bowl but I think the easiest way is to fill the machine on a High water level and when it stops filling and starts to agitate pause the machine and advance the cycle to spin and let the pump drain out the sandy water.Give this a try the reply back on how you got on.

Sand Leaking From Filter into Pool. When my filter is running I am experiencing sand in the bottom of my pool from the filter. What can be causing that?

There is only one thing that can cause sand to come back into the pool from a sand filter. The internal assembly, called the lateral assembly, is either cracked or broken. This is an easy fix and should cost you around $70 to replace the whole thing. You need to unscrew the bottom drain cap on the filter to remove the water in the tank. Then, remove the multiport valve on top of the filter. Take a shop vac and remove the sand in the filter. If the sand hasn't been replaced in the last 3-5 years, this would be a great time to do that since you already have the sand out anyway. Then, remove the lateral assembly and inspect the entire thing. After you replace the lateral assembly, you'll need to fill the sand filter tank 1/2 full of water before adding fresh sand. This is done to cushion the laterals from the weight of the sand. Cover the hole in the top of the lateral assembly pipe with a cup or duct tape to prevent any sand from getting inside the pipe (the sand will come out into the pool if it gets into the pipe). Fill the tank 3/4 full of pool filter sand. Make sure it is genuine silica pool filter sand from a pool company. A lot of big box and home improvement stores sell play sand as filter sand. This will cause you more problems!

My wife and i bought a 16 by 48 in. ultra frame intex pool. we had profesionals level the ground, we have a sandy base, and after filling our pool with water and the legs settled, the pool is approx. 2 in....

There won't be any structural problems and you will notice the difference more than anyone else. If you redo the pool next year it will help to set each leg on a patio brick so it won't settle.

I changed the sand and i can only vacuum about 2

Try consulting the owners manual for these pool filters. It will give you a lot of info in the settings that your filter needs to be on to do specific tasks. I really think that it will help you get this straightened out.

Sand and dirt recirculating into my pool water

Inside the filter, below the valve you will see a pipe sticking up from the sand. That pipe goes down to a bunch of 'fingers' with small slits in them to keep the sand (and dirt) in the tank and let the water out. You will probably need to replace that assembly, called the lateral assembly. The part number should be SX(numberical part of your filter model here)DA, so for example SX180DA for a S180T filter. Cloudy brown dirt getting in my pool from sand pump

The dirt you are getting is most likely from the air, dirt and dust present in rainwater and the small amounts present on human bodies. It is settling out and going to the bottom. I recomend a vacuum attachment that connects to your pump/filter to keep this cleaned out. Basically it "plugs In" to the outlet on the pool and will get all that out for you.
