Question about Compaq Presario Notebook

Printing problem My girlfriend has a gateway laptop running Windows XP. It is about a year old. She has a HP all in one printer also about a year old. Sorry I don't have details on the specs of these. The problem is she uses People PC as her IP and when she tries to print while online she gets knocked off every time. I have done all the basics, removing items and rebooting and reloading all software but to no avail. there are no conflicts in device manager either. Is there somewhere I can look. Thanks

Re: printing problem

Is she trying to print web pages or info from the internet while using people pc?
If so, it's going to kick it off because of the lack of download bandwidth.
Instead of printing direclt from the webpage, try to save as a file, then print the file instead of the actual page.
Hope that helps.
Good luck

Akilesh yadav hp laptop not install windows xp

If it is an older computer, the motherboard may not accept an XP installation. I have older desktops that will not accept an XP install but work fine with Win 98 and ME.

If newer model the problem could be with the disk or the cd reader. A defect in either will prevent an install.

How to set up wireless printing with disc

Here are the minimum details needed to answer this kind of question:

1. Operating System :
Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista?
2. Printer make/model:
(this is important to determine the wireless properties of printer)
3. Network Connection:
(is the laptop connected to the same network as the printer)

If you are working with a new printer (see item 2) and you have a network on which you have your notebook connected, there are so many possible ways to connect the printer to the network that it's hard to say.

If you are working with an established printer that has wireless services running, you may need to know either the Network Name of the printer or the IP Address of the printer.

Your best bet is to make use of hp's extensive Wireless Printing Center (see link below).

Even though your printer is 8 years old, at least try contacting HP support directly to inquire about getting a driver and a manual

Uninstall the printer from your Laptop. Switch off the laptop and restart it. Install the printer again on any USB port. And start printing.

Print spooler service not running on Windows XP

Spooler depends on the RPC service being running. But you really need to get into event viewer and check for anything related to either RPC or Print Spooler. If you're trying to print to a network printer you could have firewall issues either within Windows or your router. Think about what changed on your system around the time this problem began.

Copier Scanner

windows xp, yes. just look for printers which support windows xp.

you may have to upgrade your ram, but many hp machines (as well as other brands) will support pentium II's (10 year old technology) as long as they have 128megs of ram and a usb port. you may also have to update internet explorer (prolly to register the new printer).

the hardware interface matters only when it comes to printer port v/s usb, and most laptops and printers made in the last 5 years will all support usb. make sure the printer does not specify usb 2.0 in its minimum requirements, as this is a fairly new usb standard which was not around 5 years ago.

otherwise, make sure your laptop supports the other minimum requirements for the printer, as the printer's software may not load if the minimum requirements are not meant.

personally, i would recomend an hp, and a simple one at that; the more bells and whistles (such as flash card readers) the harsher the minimum requirements will be.
