Check if there is ample space on the memory and good charge on the battery and try, if it still persists then there is a fault on the lens moving out and in, probably because u wud have dropped it.

Thankyou

Turns on for 1/2 second and turns off

It sounds like the focus element inside the lens is stuck. This is usually either due to an impact knocking the elements out of alignment, or to sand/debris entering the focus motor's gear drive and preventing it from rotating. The buzzing sound you hear is the focus motor attempting to rotate, but buzzing up against some obstruction. When the lens extends, you hear a buzzing sound, and then the lens retracts - this is usually the cause of the issue. Unfortunately there is not much you can do externally to fix this problem. The camera will need to be taken apart and repaired by a professional or by the manufacturer. David Millier http://advancecamera.com/repair

If it appears undamaged, you could remove the batteries and see if that causes the lens to retract back into the camera, to get it unstuck, just as it retracts when you turn the camera off. Good Luck to you.

LENS DID NOT RETRACT PROPERLY

Sorry, but there is no safe DIY fix for your lens problem, and any attempts at homebrew repair will likely make the problem even worse. I suggest that you take it to a local camera shop (NOT the camera department at a chain store) or contact the customer service/support folks a Kodak.com to arrange repairs. Be sure to get a firm price before you commit to anything though. The fix can approach the cost of a new camera, and repairs typically only carry a 30-day warranty.

I have the same progblem - But my camera does not turn off

It sounds like a problem with the focus system. Could be sand or something - happens quite often with these lens as the focus gears are very small. So the lens have to be cleaned / repaired - it's a hardware problem, so you should contact your local Olympus service center or other local camera repair shop. If they ask too much, I can offer you the repair for a very good price. You can contact me at toms.safranovs@gmail.com

Same for me. Does not turn off

This is normal. It is like a soft power-off to conserve battery life. To turn it back on just hit the ON/OFF button again. And then turn it OFF with the same button and the lens should retract as normal. The time out only powers down the electronics, it doesn't power down everything. you have to turn the camera off manually to turn it ALL off, including retracting the lens.

When the camera is turned on, the lens extends, makes a slight buzzing sound and then retracts and the camera turns off.
