Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55XS955 55" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Standy Light Flashes 6 times when I turn the TV on.

I was told it might be the lamp. I looked at it and no cracks. The lamp looks okay. Still flashing 6 times.

What I noticed Is when I normally turn on the TV, I could hear the fan run but instead, 6 flashing red lights. Any advise would be greatly thanked.

First thing I would try is the micro switch on the lamp door. The doors get overheated and warp pushing away from the switch. The micro switch shows the tv an open door and wont let the tv start. Depending on the model you have the lights mean different things but on a WEGA rear projection LCD it ususaly means a board has failed. I just had this problem on a KDF-60XBR950. The C2 digital board was bad. Good luck

No picture no sound lamp light and standy / temp light flashing

Two things to look at---------the lamp to see if shattered inside AND with it removed look where it faces at the color wheel--see attached photo.

Look to see if any segments are broken, missing etc. Many of the wheels fail in this way and some will have a high pitched or even fan like sound before they fail.

Some when really bad will make a grinding noise also. The set monitors the speed of the wheel and if it slows or stops the set will almost instantly turn the lamp off(if possible watch from area where lamp is to see if at turn on to see if it for a moment lights or not.

Green light flashes several times. Then TV turn off.

look for 1 of 2 lights in front of the tv. after the tv shuts down completley mine would turn back on for another 30-45 min after a good cleaning it will stay off and give a "power light" not Lamp light 2 flashes. I'm waiting on some help myself. But if it's the lamp light you'll need to replace the lamp....approximitly $600 from what i've read so far.

I currently have this problem also. However my TV is blinking 6 times fast and then 5 times slowly. I was told by a TV repairman that it was in fact the bulb or lamp. I plan to replace it, soon, I will keep you posted hopfully it works.

I believe the 5 flash error is for the lamp thermostat. It is located (I believe) on the right side of the lamp housing if you were looking from front. It is very small black square with white and gray wires covered in black sheeth. The only way to replace it is from the rear. you probobly need to do a thorough cleaning in there and thats why you've had the lamp, and thermo fail. Remember not to touch the lens of the lamp when working on it.

This may be the main power supply, or the lamp supply. This is providing that the new lamp is okay.

Red Light Flashing 6 times

When the lamp fails in this unit, often the thermal fuse opens. The error code is 6 blinks. To replace this part requires a great deal of deal of disassembly.
