Specialized hard rock freewheeling, like a transmission in neutral.

It sounds like the freewheel is stuck open, if its been rebuilt recently it could be that the grease is too thick or there is too much of it. If it's the original and old, it is most likely that its just sized and needs to be replaced by a professional bike mechanic.

Need replacement gear shift cables

Only thing different between all cables for bike is the lead stopper at lever end. Tell bike shop cable is for gears and type, lever or twist grip, and type of bike(mountain/BMX etc)for length and you shouldnt have any probs,*ALT* take lever end of cable to varify lead piece is the same.
Your sheath on cable might be damaged-which caused cable to brake. Complete cable and sheath only cost about $3.
Spray a fair bit of WD40/RP7 or similar down sheath before inserting cable for smoother operation.

I need to replace the rear passenger side window regulator in my 2001 dakota quad cab. I have taken it apart, removed the old regulator, and propped up the window

I had the same problem and found the broken lower cable guide laying in the bottom of the door. I drilled 2 holes thru the lower end of the regulator and remounted the guide with 2 screws. I then restrung the cable over the guides (not easy to do) and reinstalled the regulator in the door. It works like new.

Front brake broke, wire to right side gear shift severed, need estimate on repairs or parts and to fix.

A bike shop will charge $15-20 for brake cables, but when you replace any cable you need to replace all of the rest too. It can be tricky and requires a $40 tool as well so it is prabablly best to leave to the bike shop. So in all it would cost over $120 to do it yourself and probably about 75-100 for the bike shop to do it. (unless you have the CORRECT BIKE SPACIFIC CABLE CUTTING TOOL not a regular cable cutter). If you have the cutters then it will be cheaper to do yourself.

I have just bought a 1995 Specialized Hardrock GSX. It comes with a Sram Grip Shift MRX 100. I want to replace the handlebar grips, but am confused with so many offerings. Please provide me with product...

As anything that contacts your hands and controls the shifting is a personal preference I would advise you to find a real bike shop and discuss it with them. You can also look at and manipulate other brands and models before committing.

I loss my Serial number:

Most serial numbers are located on the bottom of the bike known as the bottom bracket. Too view the serial number flip the bike over and look between the crank arms on the bottom bracket. If the serial number is not visible it may be under a the guide for the cables and that will need to be loosened. Other places for a serial number, but much less common are the underneath of the rear stays or the rear dropouts.

Can't shift into gear

If the clutch lever is very easy to pull back (no tension) your cable is broke, if not you need to adjust the clutch. You might want to check at your local library to find a repair manual for your bike. It will show you what you need to know, replacing cable or adjusting clutch.
