SOURCE: Gaggia Titanium Espresso machine problem: steam

Normal, depending on the amount, when the hot water goes through the coffee and the pressure builds up the excess has to go somewhere when it stops, usually the drain tray, so there is a little steam loss.

My Titanium leaking water. Under it

The steam valve assembly that the steam knob on the right hand side connects into is probably faulty. When you're steaming if you hear hissing coming from behind the knob then this indicates the connections into this assembly are leaking steam, and also hot water, which is why you're getting puddles under the machine. You can get a replacement steam valve assembly that fixes some issues with the original (part code SVM-17, available from www.partsguru.com) and will prevent the leakage, or you could simply try opening the top of the coffee machine and removing the tube that runs from the boiler into the steam valve. It has two o-rings that provide the seal where it connects into the steam valve assembly, and if you lubricate these with a food grade silicon lubricant it may fix the problem. My Gaggia is 7 years old so I decided to replace the whole assembly which costs about $50 and that solved the problem completely.

What does it mean when the Gaggia Titanium machine tells you to ventilate the hot water as soon as you turn the machine on?

Ventilate by pressing the hot water button and opening the steam tap. Once water flows freely, close the tap.
If problem persists, its likely to be a broken "steam valve cam"

No hot water or steam from wand.

If steam wand is not blocked then the problem is on the inside of the machine, try descaling the machine that might clear the blockage in the steam line.

Gaggia Titanium, makes hot water but no steam

Push in on the steam knob, if that works, then the steam valve assembly needs to be replaced, tell the Tech where you bought the machine that you need to get the new stainless steel valve.
