SOURCE: need manual for craftsman snowblower 42 or parts below
Ok
That Snowblower is made by Agri- Fab for Sears/Craftsman .If you go online to the agri-Fab website it is possible to down load the manual or if you email them they will send you a copy. I have dealt with them. They have even sent me missing parts. GOOD LUCK

1. Check the fuel line for cracks/breaks. If it is o.k., then:
2. You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.
3. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb., including the jet. These portals can become blocked.
4. You may need to change the diaphragm while you are in there.
5. Reassemble the carburetor.
6. Make sure the air breather is clean.
If you need further assistance, let me know.

Your snowblower carburator is gummed up. Go to an auto parts store and get a can of a carb. cleaner called seafoam. Follow the directions as far as how much to put into the snowblower gas tank. Run it for a few minutes and it will clear up. Regards, Joe

Sounds like you coil is over heating after running a few minutes. The windings are seperating, then when it sools they make contact again. Try replacing the coil.

I couldn't find the manual for your tractor but I did fiind one for a 917255917 model it calls for a 71-25231 snow thrower. The 842 model you listed must not be complete number. There are several different models that start with 842. Does your tractor have the horizontal engine that has clutch on front, and drive pully on rear of engine? I used to have one like that and I had a sears blower on it. You'll need wheel weights and chains too.
