Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

When I type on the keyboard, sometime the letters will start typing as numbers. I accidently got my fingers on the F keys and I don't know if that is what caused this problem.

Hello,
to check if you really press the Fkeys accidentally you can test all the Fkeys in your keybpoard then observe what are the effects of every FKeys you press. In that way you can surely check if the cause of your problem no in your keyboard is by pressing the Fkeys accidentally or if your keyboard has the problem.

Thanks

When I type letter keys, numbers come up with the letters

That's because some are dual function keys; you've probably hit the 'Alt' or 'Fn' key to the bottom left of the keyboard by accident. If you look carefully at the letter keys, they should have numbers on them in a different colour/smaller text.

My laptop keboard is acting up sometime the letters dont want to type.sometime its a letter and sometime its another letter and then sometime it works perfectly

You may have unwanted debris under the keys. Turn the keyboard upside down and brush gently between the keys. If the problem then affects another key you know you are on the right track - the debris is moving around.

Keyboard mapping

Your numlock is turned on. There is more than one way to turn it off.Find a USB keyboard, and plug it in. Then push the numlock key on the USB keyboard to turn it off.OR, if you don't have access to one of those, hold down the fn key (lower left hand corner of the keyboard) and press the key with numlock or number lock written on or near it.

The right position of the finger in the keyboard,on what particular letters do each finger were assigned.

I don't know exactly what you're asking here, but if you mean the home keys, where your fingers are supposed to rest for touch typing, then it's: ASDF for the left hand, and JKL: for the right. Index fingers on F&J, middle fingers on D&K, so on.

Help! i have a problem with my keyboard, some of the letter that i type come out as numbers! any ideas??

You probably have accidently turned on numlk which turns mjkluio789 into 0123456789
Most laptops require a two key combination of Fn (function key) and NumLk (numeric lock key) to toggle it off and on. Sometimes there is a seperate NumLk by itself as it is on most desktop keyboards.
If this doesn't do it let me know the make and model of your laptop and I'll see if I can help further.

A key (which one?) changes the letters all keys type

You're hitting SHIFT and CTRL -- which changes the keyboard input method, i.e., for French keyboard, or for DVORAK keyboard, or for Scandinavian keyboard.

Access CONTROL PANEL, and use REGIONAL settings to "uninstall" all keyboard-layouts that you _never_ use.

Keyboard typing extra letters >.<

Sounds like the windows key is stuck down, pressing start+r opens run, start+e opens explorer etc. The start key being the one between control and alt.

Keyboard will not work

Try this and see if this works for you. Touch Keypad simulates a wireless phone keypad on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols just as if you were using a wireless phone keypad. Touch Keyboard simulates a 20-key QWERTY (typewriter) keyboard on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols similar to the way you would using a QWERTY keyboard. To use Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard:  In a program, tap the Input Selector arrow, and then tap Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard. To type lowercase letters, tap the keys on the dial pad or keyboard. To type a single uppercase letter, tap the Shift key and then tap the corresponding key. To type all uppercase letters, tap the Shift key twice. To change back to all lowercase letters, tap again. To enter a space after the word, tap the Space key. To start a new line, tap the Enter key. To backspace and delete a single character in any input mode, press the Back key. To open the Symbol pad, tap the Symbol key. To change the input mode:  Tap the Input mode key to switch to a different input mode: XT9 (predictive), Multitap (abc), or Numeric (123).
Let me know if this works for you, if not let me know.
