XBOX 360: Sound is coming through but video is not.

If your Xbox 360 does not have display you need to stop the heat getting to the chips. You can actually do this yourself as many have in this forum using the recommended Xbox 360 Repair guide.

Basically the guide will show you how to stop the heat build up with videos and household items, of course if you are in doubt send it in.

Or of course you can send it in to have it fixed.

Stop the heat to the scaler chip and you will have it working.

My Xbox 360 video and sound went out and It is not the cord because I used another cord and it still did not work. I was playing a game and the graphics went to really good to bad and I reset the Xbox and know it just comes up with black screen with lines on it.

I've seen this symptom before. Try removing the external hard-drive and see if the picture comes back. Another cause could be the video resolution setting. If the Xbox video resolution is set higher than your TV can display you will get a blank picture with sound. Try reducing the Xbox resolution if the hard-drive trick doesn't work.

If your TV is HD, you should definitely be connecting the component video cables (green, blue and red) from the 360 to the TV (the 321 will not do video pass-thru from component cables). -Make sure you have a picture at this point. (TV switched to whichever input you connect the 360 to)
You can get an RCA extension cable for the audio portion (red and white) to connect to the 321 for audio. You could also connect an optical audio cable to the 321. An optical cable must be assigned from the system menu to work..

you need to edit the settings for your tv just play arround with the setting until you hear sound..
