Question about HP Pavilion F1703 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

LCD monitor Hello,I got an F1703 monitor on eBay. It worked all right for a day or so, then the picture became washed out, especially on the bottom, with fine white(or black) lines visible. The OSD controls have little or no effect. The power supply seems OK(16.75VDC). In a dialog box, there's a figure of 8.5K hours. If that is total running time, is that a lot?I'd like to try and salvage it (I'm quite familiar with a soldering iron) and read somewhere that bad capacitors can cause such problems. Do you think that this, or some other "fixable" problem could be the case here?

Re: LCD monitor

Normally TFT monitor backlights have a life of around 40,000hrs .Open up the monitor and check visually for bulged leaky capacitors. This monitor is reputed to fail due to dry solders on Inverter pcb.

HP Pavilion F1703 goes black after 2 - 3 seconds

Resolder the leads of the four TOROID inductors, make sure to remove the old solder, clean the leads real well and resolder. Also check caps for leaking/bulging tops and bottom seals, check the transistors (c5706/5707) for shorts.

HP f1703. After a power outage, when computer is

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

No VGA icon to rotate Horizontal position

Right click on your destop, in the middle you should see what types of VGA Card you had.( for example Nvidia Display or ATI Display) Next to right double click to open. You should see a list of informations, look for rotation and click on it. The rest you know what to do... Have a nice day!
