Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Color problem i had my hitachi just long enough for it to be out of warranty.  i think lightening hit our house and blew the fuse.  i called hitachi to ask where the fuse was so i could replace it  and not have to take it to a shop but was told it didn't have a fuse!!!!!!!!!  i hauled it to a shop and paid over $100 to have the FUSE replaced.  it worked fine.  a few days or week later, the lamp went out.  called hitachi again and was told they only have refurbished ones, no new ones and i had to order it through sears so i did.  when that came i had to send the one i had to them.  the light was $200+.  when it was replaced, the color wasn't right so i called them again.  they said to order another one so i did through sears.  that was didn't fix the problem either so i gave up and just kept it, assuming it was another problem, not the lamp.  when the screen fades to black, the middle of the screen has blue dots on most of it.  when trying to reset the colors, i can change the red and green but not the blue.  the faces look either yellow or red but the sharpness is ok, it's just the color.  any ideas as to what's wrong?

You have a defectie light engine problem and Hitachi knows about it. Same thing happened to us obnly we had the infamous "red cloud" and nothing you do to the TV will fix it. Once we researched this problem online, I called the Hitachi Customer Service Department and they acted like they knew nothing about it however, they did provide me with a name and number of a local Hitachi certified dealer. The tech came out and after one minute said we had a defective light engine. I called Hitachi back and in less than 2 hours, once they confirmed the problem with the dealer, they shipped the part and the tech came and installed it...looks like a brand new TV!

Here's the kicker...they will pay for the part $1500 but they ask you to pay for the install. Our install was $400...worth it to us becuase we paid $3600 for the TV 3years ago.

Keep in mind that when you initially call them, they will play dumb. At least they did with us. Once you have the dealer out and they can confirm it, they will all of a sudden acknowlege the problem and send the part to the dealer. The dealer should then call you to come out and install the part!

Please deal with Hitachi's customer relations department and not customer service...they will have you chasing your tail, so to speak. The Customer Relations # is 800-654-7013. Good Luck.
If you're willing to cover the cost of the install, the rest should be pretty easy to resolve!

Recently my house got struck by lightening. It blew a few things out, one being the tv. It's a Sanyo Dp39842 42", green light comes on showing that its turned on and sound comes out but no picture.

You need to report to your homeowners insurance. It is normally about as cheap to buy TV nowadays as to repair. Especially one hit by lightning.

Why won't my TV turn on after a storm?

Your TV might very easily be destroyed now, from lightening damage. Lightening can come in on the cable, on the power line, all sorts of unexpected ways. I've personally been struck by lightening, plenty hard enough to destroy almost any electronic device... and I was working in a basement at the time.

Vizio HDTV has a green tint since my house was hit by lightening. Is there a way to get by to regular color?

You could have a bad T-con board cause incorrect color, and you might need to have the wall where Tv is demagnatised.

Lightening struck nearby and the tv went out. Now

Obviously the tv took the hit but the dvd player was spared. check and replace the fuse in the tv if it's open. If this does not fix it then get an est and file a claim with you homeowners insurance.

My hitachi 50v720 bulb blew and the replacement doesn't fit

I believe the lamp you need is the UX21516. not the 21517
I have a 50VF820 and this is the lamp for it.
By the way my unit just hit the 3 years and the lamp just blew as well.
