Why wont my boost sim card work in a nextel phone

I just bought a ic502 nextel phone and put the boost sim card in the phone reads: Insert correct sim. sim card does not match stored account information is there any way to make it work? thanks

you either have to do a factory reset on the phone or the previous owner of the phone (assuming there was one) has to release the phone or request a bill by calling nextel
